I'm an idiot. I still would like something like this 912, only perhaps in slightly better nick. Not much better though.

Nothing idiotic about that lust! In my mind, if you really like driving, you like older cars as they require you to drive them/be engaged. I have yet to find a better word to describe driving my SC than visceral. Mashing the gas and rocketing along is fun but in a modern car it doesn't really require much skill/involvement.
I know of a 912E for sale here in Tucson. It is really nice but not perfect; a very nice driver if you will. The owner knows what it is worth, but he is a reasonable guy. If you want details, let me know.
i had beetle with a 912 engine in it. thing was fucking fast for a car that couldn't hit 90 without going downhill. i might have a picture somewhere. i pulled the engine out of a bus. 912 used to be such garbage you'd put their engines in buses which used to be such garbage you'd put their engines in clapped out mid seventies beetle you stole from your portugese god mother auntie flip after she upgraded to a nice rust free datsun.
I had a 66 Bug and a 64 Bus. So I guess I just need the 912 to complete the insanity. Nice to have goals.
Of course I want details which is why you shouldn't give them to me. Give me a couple years and I might have a garage. I might also have a house attached to it, but the garage is the important thing.Quote:

Clear side marker lights are what make a Porsche a Porsche.
So there you have it.
Driving a dealer loaner Cayman this morning. This is no 911.
I'm surprised it took so long for yours to need to go to the shop.
It was just the dealer who checked the VIN when I had the proper marker installed. There were a couple of things to be changed/upgraded. And yes I am feeling really good about the 911. Just awesome.
I think I read the software "upgrade" changes your 911 into a 2017 Toyota Prius for emissions reasons.
More Porsche less not Porsche. xxoo
Run to the hills!
Run for your lives!
