Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)

I've been doing the same bus ride long enough where I know the random addicts and what to expect the minute we pull up to the stop. The lady who huffs hand sanitizer really bums me out.

1. Getting slate tile installed in our entire downstairs. Had all our stuff moved out monday last week. My tile guy, who I have had do work for us before, doesn't show until Wednesday after being scheduled Monday. Love him dearly, but man.

2. Book Book iPhone case wallet combo with screen protector. Dropped tuesday, and watched the unit flair open like a parachute on the way to ground. Screen hits ground flat, cracked. Screen protector did not crack though. WTF? Nice designs, guys.

3. Oh, and this is my vacation week. Some vacation. I did ride Sat and Sunday to my daughters swim meet, which was 30 miles each day. Of course, on Sunday, I hung my helmet on the easy up rather than let bake in the car. Forgot it. So, no ride Monday until could track down from lost and found. Tues raining in morning, and plans to go to Beach Boardwalk with kids in afternoon/evening, so no ride Tuesday. Got out Wednesday after hours of figuring out which way to lay tile with tile guy. At 2 pm. Hottest time of day. Must have been at least 76. I almost died. I don't know how I ever rode in Texas and South Carolina. I'm a effin weather wimp now. Anything over 70 and I just wilt. I'm dodging the tomatoes, darts, and hand grenades being tossed my direction right now.

Do I get two? Six weeks after request went in, three weeks after prompting and getting a promise that the request would be finished by the next week (Service Level Agreement is 5-10 days from request assignment) the Windows server tech tells me its done. Well, it fails on all 58 servers. I know why. I ask if they followed the instructions. Of course I did he says. We look at the first machine. No, he didn't. Don't ask me why the product puts a like named command file in that directory, I specified the other directory. Did he look there? No, he didn't.

The best part is he says that he maybe will get to fixing the other 58 "maybe tomorrow".

I know, I know. Separation of freaking duties but for the love of Melvin if its going to be done right give the mainframe guy the access and get out of his way.

And my related grump is that I have had a weird/slow week at work, just putting minor things to bed, and not taking on anything new.
Also, haven't ridden a bike in 10+ days, and have spent an inordinate amount of time talking with mortgage lenders.

Try as I might I still can't manage to fend off workplace politics with facts and clarity. And on a related note, playing the emperor's new clothes won't make this company successful, so if you're looking for blind validation of your idea, I'm probably not the person you want to ask.

My office is hot..... but on the positive I am not wearing socks today.

My phone battery. From 10% to dead in an instant. I finally caught it in the act.

I used to get two weeks on my old brick phone. People made fun of me, but my phone was never dead.

Sciatica sucks.

Delivered my son to a very small college 65 miles from home, he chose it, he committed to play football there, with no prodding from us. I actually wanted him to give another nearby school a shot, so I honestly don't feel like I pushed him there. As the summer draws to a close and camp reporting day gets closer he starts to have second thoughts, understandably, this stuff has got to be stressful on a young person. Saturday after dinner and parent orientation meeting it's time for mother and I to head home. He's beside himself, doesn't want to stay, we ask him to just give it a try. Lots of tears. Saturday night, Sunday and Monday is a constant barrage of texts that he hates it there and wants to come home. More asking him to give it a chance. Get him an appointment to see a pediatric psychologist that he's seen in the past for anxiety.

Doc says anxiety 1 kid 0, this probably isn't going to work. Forcing him could result in panic attack or possibly worse. He needs help with coping skills, discussed different options.

This parenting stuff can be so hard. I knew he wasn't going to like the change but I thought with time he'd realize college is more fun than not. Trying to do what is best but it turns out you're not? Should we have known better, what did we miss? Shitty week so far. But it's all good, problem identified, plan in place, moving onward and upward.

I'm just gonna bitch about the heat.

100*+ days need to break. I've got nothing in the tank.

With only a handful of miles this year, I now know what the term "rebuilding year" really means.

Made a nice steak dinner for the family for my birthday dinner and my sons were so incapable of behaving at the table that they had to be sent to bed without any pie.

I spelled to incorrectly in my last post?? wtf? too? two o's?

I have a massive opportunity staring me in the face that would nestle perfectly beside the frame building journey but I'm burdened with debt of my own making so I'm lying in the bed that I made. It's starting to make me anxious about missing out.

Poison f'ing Oak won't go away.

4 more days of summer vaca then school (work) starts back up. Party is ovah.

I have to get on a flight in a couple hours to go see some dirt loving yahoos who convinced me to do some crazy ride in Massachusetts.

Ok, the real grumps...

My achilles is acting up and, while not painful, it is a bit irritating.

And I'm trying to buy my wife a new car and the dealers are all making it harder than it should be. Just tell me the real numbers, I can do the math thank you.
