People whose work style is to involve as many people as possible in every decision, invoking analysis paralysis at every turn and resulting in a lot of circular discussions. The phrase "oh for fuck's sake" has been rattling around in my head a lot lately.

This is gold.
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
while its not thursday, im definately in a grump.
Rode into work this morning and its a nice 20 degrees celcius (68 degreesF) comfortable riding in pants without making myself sweat too much.
Walk into the office and its a nice 26.5 degrees (80F) and hasnt went down dispite the HVAC running what seems to be full time. top that off with a building with fixed glazings so we cant open a window to get some much-needed breeze.

I know, it's not Thursday (don't worry, penance will be paid).
Tonight's criterium has been cancelled. The course is underwater. This is the 2nd week in a row it's been cancelled.
Someone in my office is burning incense. I'm incensed. I want to burn a pad of post-it notes just to even things out.

My toddler woke up at 3:00 this morning and didn't go back to sleep.

That's not a grump that's normal.

Are you not familiar with crop dusting?
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
Like those @!#$%ng cicadas, I woke this morning to a serenading hum of a 17yr old sump pump and a hot metal scent. Float malfunctioned (corrosion) and wouldn't trip to OFF. Last week it wouldn't trip to ON, but I thought I fixed it. Turned out to be a one-week patch. So my wife tended the pump - disconnecting power after every flush - while I ran to get a new pump early this morning. It was raining pretty good out so I had exactly 3 minutes and 18 seconds between fill-ups to get the old one out and new swapped in before flooding over. I was out of the pits in under three. Home ownership blows some days...

I read this as "silica pump" instead of sump pump. I thought you were being very dramatic about inflating tires.

I am in La Morra, Italy for the PegoRaduno. It would be nice if my luggage was here with me. It is lost...somewhere. All of my cycling kit and other personal effects are in my luggage. I am trying to make the best of it.
Fabrizio (boar) has been very gracious. He let me into his closet and has dressed me from head to toe. Martin (advineas) is also offering me his extra kit when he arrives. I am very thankful for these gentlemen.
Fingers crossed my bag shows up soon...this is a first for me. Never had a bag lost before.

I started to kit dressed for my longest ride in a long time this morning when I was hit with vertigo. I can hardly walk, much less ride a bicycle.

Sorry to hear that..... I remember fondly your appearances at Ballers the first couple years and will be hoping for your attendance again in the future! We'll raise a glass! Be well friend!

People that check the box for 'signature required in person' when shipping things to me.
Thanks now I have to plan a trip to the post office to pick up the $6 whatever I bought on eBay :(
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
This will be the first year since 2009 that I haven't done any of the crits that initially excited me enough to race. Last year, those were the only ones I did. This year, not even those. Seems minor when typing it out, but man...it's really messing with my psyche and motivation to ride at anything other than a leisurely pace.

i turned down a job in san francisco last week because i didnt feel comfortable in the city. i would LOVE to live in seattle after spending a week there (immediately after leaving SF), but i'm being moved back to boston (not too bad) to stay with my current company (bad). at least i have friends there and know the area really well.

Hand holding. I've got one app guy on the project that is hopelessly behind because everything is too difficult to comprehend - funny but the other 50+ support people can follow the documentation I wrote and, trust me, some of them aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. Well, if the guy would actually read the freaking documentation... every step is 'what do I do with this?' or 'I have problems there' and each time I point him to the place where it is written up... and his status to his managers are that 'things were corrected in the system' not 'I failed to read the documentation so that thing I said would not work was my own fault' and they swallow it. I can't get my project manager to fire the moron from the project and their opinion is that if this moron fails then it's our fault, not his. It totally chaps my ass to reward that kind of behavior. I'm fed up to the point where I would like to have the authority to tell him to 'seek other opportunities'.
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
1) travel to remote town for tower installation
2) have to change a tire in 180,000 degree sun on top of a mountain
3) watch in total surprise as the muslim laborers drag a goat to the bottom of the tower foundation and sacrifice it
4) apparently it was the wrong goat cause god shipped us an out of spec tower baseplate.
4cm. The difference between go and no-go.

Minor crash at the end of my ride this morning. I now have hockeyplayersmile and a dentist appt at 3:30 this afternoon. Could have been worse.
