Re: What's chapping my @ss today?
My work computer is antiquated. I'm running XP. For the last 10 months, I've been promised that the arrival of a new computer is imminent.
My boss (who doesn't know how to print individual pages from a document) needs a product from me. I'm the only person in the dept who has the skills to deliver it. It's easy work, but my computer crashes constantly. I could knock this out in an hour if I had the horsepower.
"Hey, I need that product"
"I'm serious, I need that new machine. This one keeps choking on it. I just crashed it three times."
"Well, just keep trying"
Just keep trying. We've been at this for 2-3 weeks now. It's an hour's worth of work. It's just not going to happen.
Just keep trying.
Re: What's chapping my @ss today?
We're losing four engineers at work this month. The company isn't hiring any replacements until they evaluate the impact of the loss. In the mean time, I'm gaining two more machines in addition to the two that consume my time now. I like what I do, but I think my happiness factor will drop exponentially with the doubling of my work load. I'm going to be a bell tapper, arrive precisely on time and leave precisely at the end of the day regardless of how well machines are running.
Re: What's chapping my @ss today?
My daughter’s been in the hospital, transferred to a 2nd one, since Sunday night. Lupus-flair up, doctors trying to determine the cause.
Everything else in my life now has taken a back seat, like 200 rows back.

Sounds like an invitation to me. Also sounds like there might be a diaper shortage so I'm stocking up before the price spikes. Which commodities exchange trades Huggies size 3?

Still sick. Today marks one month since I started feeling sick. It started with the flu, then bronchitis and now I have a cold with some lingering bronchitis cough. Frustrating, to say the least.

I feel you. Three weeks for me - the first feeling vaguely flu-ish, then a sudden switch to a sinus infection. I spent another week assuming it was a viral thing I just needed to ride out, feeling worse every day. I finally saw a doctor at the 2-week anniversary and got some horse-size antibiotics. I am finally (almost) better.
My grump? Snow. 5.5" on 1/24. 26" on 1/27-28. 16" on 2/2. 24" on 2/7-8. From the radio just now: "This weekend, lots more on the horizon."

Minor, certainly, but I discovered the french press carafe was cracked this morning.

decidedly: another over-used word that has to go.

Got to spend the day in Napa tasting wine for work. Why can't my life get easier :(.
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
Woke up and realized I was out of coffee. Drove through Dunkin' Donuts rather than going across town to the local place. Now I'm sitting at my desk and all I can think is: Bad choice Caleb, bad choice.

The skiing is spectacular and I've got blisters on my heels that are (a) cramping my style and (b) getting worse.

Kiddo #2 is 3something and in a prolonged phase of screaming for everything and nothing all the time. Mrs and I just exchange the look of yeah-this-again-still-sucks-surrender.
Looking for a quiet place to eat food.

I'm sorry. 6mos after buying ours, I'm still getting requests for information from our lender. Our realtor was awful. Our lender was not awesome. Most of the houses we looked at, the wife and I picked out. Including the one we ended up buying.
Wife wants to be a surrogate. I'm against the idea. Very much so.
Rearranged weekend plans to build a bike for wife's teammate. She also asked me to find her a derailleur hanger. 12hrs later, wife's teammate posts her bike being built at a shop. Says nothing to me. Derailleur hanger?

I let my core go to hell and it took my pedal stroke with it.

Nothing out of the ordinary today. So in order to up the frustration level I'll tie up a few 16-18 black stonefly nymphs today.

Has a week gone by already? My daughter still in hospital, so my wife and I have been living there too. Confident in the best care in Boston, Lupus is a puzzling bitch.
Please send positives thought to her. Can’t hurt. Thank you!

Geez man, your daughter can have whatever positive energy I have. Tough stuff. My hopes for the best.

Praying for the little lady, hope the docs figure out what's going on and get it sorted.
I came here to complain about a runny nose, but f-it, it's a "problem", not a problem.
"Man its been one of those days,
When I been thinking poor me.
I got no right to complain I guess,
....
Everybody under my roof,
Is healthy- knock on wood.
Oh but I sure do sweat the small stuff,
I don't thank God as much as I should."
