Didn't get the house I grumped about last week, second offer came in higher and stronger terms.
Guy offered me me money to buy one of my bikes that I had no intention of selling.. it's a strong offer. more money in the house fund. just can't agree to sell it. told wife, and she drops a 'so you love the bike more than your family' line. not true at all, just really like that bike and never had those funds in our equation, just can't get her to see that.

Amazing team. Kerr has Gentry and Ron Adams, the Hydra brain trust. Dubs stepped on Blake's throat early and often. Wah one rebound.
Grump: blackouts.

Got home from work yesterday feeling fine. Had a beer and crashed on the couch. Woke up after an hour with a raging head cold. It is still around this morning and I'm walking around the office in a fog.

Another one is saying 'sort of' multiple times per sentence. It's used in place of 'like' and it's just as meaningless, but it's meant to sound smarter. Terry Gross does it a lot.

If you, like, want to sort of start that conversation, like is sort of more like but um than like sort of.

I am grumpy, and I don't really know why, which is adding to the phenomenon -- metagrump.

Saw Dr. yesterday, result: hernia surgery next Thursday (make that double-hernia surgery). Caused, or exacerbated, by lugging and hoisting two full-size bike boxes on and off public transit for three weeks in Europe. I wonder if my wife will let me have her HampCo Ti cut for couplers ?

Don't think I've posted in this thread before because I'm not a grump kinda guy, but it ooks like we're hitting that shoulder season where you have to wear a bunch of clothes to ride in the wind and wet, and there's not real snow for nordic skiing....

Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
I hate giant umbrellas on a crowded city sidewalks and 1st year finance guys who walk in packs at lunch time on crowded city sidewalks. And on a rainy day, the packs of 1st year finance guys all have giant umbrellas. I hate that. My mother used to say don't say you hate something say you dislike it. I hate that too especially when I actually do hate something like giant umbrellas and packs of 1st year finance guys on crowded city sidewalks. You guys don't know it but you are cannon fodder and please get your giant umbrella out of my ear hole.
I think I need a grow lamp.

On a more sort of, serious note, in the keeping of the sort of, spirit of this thread, I have to sort of, express my discontent with having this sort of, rhinovirus-like malaise for the past week. Yesterday I finally got back on the trainer, and did a sort of, old school workout, the 2x20, and today I’m feeling a sort of, profound fatigue, which has this effect of putting me in this sort of, melancholy haze.

The lack of daylight in the afternoon is very depressing. Even more depressing is the knowledge that it will keep getting worse for another 6ish weeks
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
People want to get where they're going and I get that. Today was an epically bad day to fly on the east coast. Worse than usual. Super choppy rides and the last leg to PVD sucked ass. And NY Center saying "I'm not depicting anything on my radar" while I'm staring straight at build ups that are way higher than I'm flying and I'm not flying through those things. Even the big guys were deviating tonight coming out of JFK. This shit ages you.
The good news today was that I was actually able to help someone who looked lost and confused and bit frightened and didn't speak a word of English navigate Philadelphia's airport and get to her gate in time. That was it's own reward I guess but today was one of those crappy days to be in the air.
I need a break. Next week I have off. Time for a glass of vino.
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
I work a flexible schedule, the goal is to average 9 hours a day and take every other Friday off. I arrive at work a few minutes before 7am and leave at 4pm so I can get an afternoon gravel ride in. My team leader arrives at work around 8:30am and leaves at 5:30pm. My boss made a comment to me today about my leaving at 4pm when others stay until after 5pm. He doesn't come in until 8am. He is failing to grasp the concept that I come in earlier so I can leave earlier. I meet all my goals, metrics, and assignments. I actually greatly exceed in several areas. He doesn't understand why I would want to ride after work. I guess I'll have to consider going in later and riding before work. That's about a 30 degree difference in riding temperatures.

My 6 year old has salmonella poisoning (according to his dr.). Rough 48 hours so far.

Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
Had a car part that was arriving via FedEx today, and I started tearing apart the car ahead of time so I could throw the new part in when it arrived. Well, the seller shipped it requiring a signature. And I wasn't able to get from under the car to the door in the time it took for the delivery guy to write up the tag and leave. So now I get to play the show up at the facility at 6pm and try and intercept, and finish the install sometime after 7pm. So a project that could be done already is dragged out all day. Guess I'll go ride a bike.
