I love how both Bernstein and Mehldau are able to completely deconstruct the head while never losing its essence in their respective solos. These are guys who clearly understand Monk's muse.
I'm rather familiar with Mehldau's work, but surprisingly have never heard Bernstein before. Down the rabbit hole I go!
Thanks for turning me on to this.
I'm listening to as much as I can, one song or record leading to another.
Why? A new power amp that has significantly deepened my immersion and enjoyment with just about anything I can throw at it. Dynamics - macro & micro - detail, body, air... Music!
This was a good purchase.
I love Piazzolla's music. The flute is my instrument.
