Not too different from Mike, I've been up all night with my wife throwing up from food poisoning. I feel terrible for her.

Weak grump.

I win this thread often. Not so much the circumstances; but the ability to bitch about them.
You're legit in my book.

Idiot application programmers. Secure file transfer product for external business partners is being upgraded, runs on a Windows server. App support attempts to run transfer on upgraded server. It fails TLS handshake because they apparently support that on a different control port than the default. It's specified in the upgrade documentation which they didn't read - it took me 30 seconds to find the spec when he sent it to me.
What changed? The server in question, and it doesn't work so obviously the best people to get in touch with is mainframe operating systems support. Yeah, that's the ticket! Not the guys that support the file transfer product, why the hell would that be the thing to do?
Why am I sensitive to this? My number one project for next year has one part that involves dealing with about sixty of these people for this exact kind of work. 2014's gonna suck.

I hate knee injuries. The PT today said that I'm making progress but "it will just take time". Christmas cookies + no riding is making me fill out my jeans.

my landlord of 26 days claims that the normal living noise of our residence above their head is disruptive to their quality of life. 26 days. what the fuck.

My girlfriend decided to plunk down on my knee and hyper-extended it. I've had chronic pain sine the 13th.. Supper terrified that I have damage.

Mice.
I've always had a live-and-let-live attitude towards these little bastards. Now they're starting to do serious damage to the cars. I've set traps. First they eat the bait. Then they dance all over the trap covering it with poop.

Saturday evening, my sister-in-law arrived. Sunday morning I tweaked my back bending over to pick up the newspaper. Coincidence? No. The next two days I was like a hemophiliac in a shark tank. My sister-in-law swimming around, sharpening her teeth.
My wife just let me know she's coming back in January. Yay.

People who use outdoor voices indoors bum me out. Just listened to the most inane conversation ever for two hours from MSP-DCA. I'm pretty sure the front half of the airplane heard every word too. At least one of the conversants was super hot so every time I gave me semi dirty look she looked good speaking loudly.
Indoor voices indoors, people, indoor voices.

It is the Minnesotans Jim. They are freakishly loud. I constantly have to shush my wife so people can have normal conversations. FYI - I'm an Iowan.

They weren't Minnesotans.... I'll give you a guess.... 50/50 shot at getting it right....
Where does all the loud talk and hot air in this country start?

This is purely speculative as I am a conservative mid-western boy: East coast? New York? Jersey?
I know that's multiple guesses, but hey. We are having fun here.

Guess I shouldn't have gone there. My reputation points are going down by the second. Maybe we should be able to see who is giving/taking points just to keep things on the up and up? Yeah, maybe?

When I was a kid the stores carried Sunbelt brand granola bars. You knew you were eating something. I need to use the www's to track them down in wholesale quantities, if they still exist.
I buy Sunbelt Granola bas 4 boxes at a time. I never buy sports bars anymore. I'll take a pic of the display when I hit the grocery store next. We can arrange a trade for delicious philly pretzels. Good ones, not the bready ones form WaWa.

Non-grumps in the grumps thread. Boys are going to be swol' as fuck by the time they're all pushed out.

Three days not riding this week because of Christmas prep and day. Putting up with my mom vetting pissed at everyone because she can't hear them, but OH NO she doesn't need hearing aids. Finally get out to ride today. The weather has been awesome all week. Tomorrow? Another move-my-mom day.
Re: Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)
A couple of things.
1. I'm trying to finish the year with 4K miles. I have to drive to Dallas tomorrow (2 hours) so I can get to my sister's house and then head off to see the Chinese Lantern Festival at Dallas Fair Park. I've seen Chinese Lanterns in China, do I really need to see them in Dallas? Not like I've got a choice. I've got to figure out a time to ride.
2. My kid and I volunteered at a community dinner on Sunday. A few local churches and restaurants sponsored it. The kid and I were washing dishes, it was a good place for us. A holier-than-thou assclown came in the kitchen and starting asking where we went to church. I told him we didn't. He wanted to know why we were even there. I told him to go the fuck away. I think I scared him with my sailor-speak. Why can't you just do things because it's the right thing to do? We fed a thousand low income people that night, probably the best meal they'll get this season, all on real plates and silverware washed by us.

I configure software. I have customers who complain about the current situation (they got themselves into by not listening to my advice in the first place). Then, I provide alternatives, and they spend the next few weeks finding every possible reason to reject the alternatives as well. Fine, do it yourselves then, but at least stop wasting my time because I've a dozen other customers wanting assistance too.
