Indeed. But in this case it's the feedstock for my stuffing.

Mrs. Aitch bakes the cornbread (in a 12" skillet). I get yelled at for eating it.

Mushrooms and chorizo, the feedstock for the latter appeared in some of this spring's ride photos. Oink!

Sage from outside, high enough up (hopefully) that the dogs don't pee on it (much).

Mrs. Aitch bakes the pies and breads (she's the rule-follower, I'm not). She also channels Edvard Munch for the cuts in the crust.

A pretty simple ragu of tomatoes, veggies and sweet sausage placed over a mix of homemade pasta...I always keep a glass of red wine handy.

While out visiting with Tom and Jeff to pick up this....

We got to talking about frying turkeys and pork loins, cooking a turducken and turduckens made with pheasant instead of turkey and such.
Jeff told me about something I had never heard of and told me where to find it down the road. So this weekend, we will be grilling up some of this...

Re: What are you cooking for dinner this weekend?
Friends brought a big bag of oysters from the Chesapeake bay for Thanksgiving. When we were done eating them raw, I put the rest on the Weber kettle with charcoal and maple and grilled/smoked them with kimchi butter. Pulled them and topped them with chives - Amazing.

Very excited about this opportunity from the chef at my favorite restaurant
Quickfire Opportunity: Tomorrow, Thursday November 30th - by popular demand - I am hosting a "Pop Up Cooking Class - Using Dark Chocolate in Savory and Desserts" Cooking Class. Among other dishes, you will learn how to make not only the best flourless chocolate cake I've ever created, but you will learn how to make a bittersweet chocolate red wine sauce for duck and venison that will blow you away.

Awesome. Share the secrets!!
One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth was a flourless chocolate cake made by one of my wife's coworkers for a company Christmas party a few years ago. It was life changing. I gave her a hug. Never met her before that night.

Scotch egg with lactofermented hot sauce, kimchi, sauerkraut (all homemade), and some good mustard... excellent.
Also: bratwurst with the aforementioned sauerkraut, but cooked this time. Tasted 100% like mom's cooking.

Made some sourdough this weekend. Dinner Sunday night was korean style braised beef short ribs, jasmine rice, and stir fry veggies.

This thread is the gift that keeps on giving.
I unearthed two very old cast iron corn bread molds my family used to use for special occasions. The trick is to pre-heat them quite hot and wipe with butter than fill and stuff into the oven ASAP.
Came out not so bad ;)

With not many days left and traveling on the calendar, yesterday was the last smoke of the year. Also made some bread that didn't turn out very good, my starter wasn't fully active and I didn't give it all the time it needed to rise.

We hosted several outlaws last evening for dinner and they came, they drank, they ate and they left. Chicken cordon bleu with mashed potatoes, edamame, roasted Brussels sprouts, salad, wine, champagne...you name it. Old fashioneds were a very popular drink but the highlight was when my 92 yo mother-in-law asked for a highball. Broke out a bottle of Canadian Club with a 1977 seal. Certainly not a vintage single malt but not bad after 40 years. Merry Christmas folks!

Sweet and sour braised leeks with currants (and with goat cheese for the nonvegans) ala Ottolenghi.
