Tho it was a photograph, it was like watching it happen. Cool photograph.
I was skiing across a frozen beaver pond at night, following rodent tracks which suddenly ended, as though the creature had been beamed up. They don't stand a chance.

We have great-horned owls in our yard almost nightly. Sometimes they sit on the house. I am sure they are hunting voles, nature's little snack boxes for predators. Everything eats them, and their reproduction rate is their only defense.

Lower Kalimna Falls.
A cool damp, sip of water amidst our long, hot, dry summer here in S.W. Victoria, Australia

Dan (72gmc)...how do you walk by this flashing sign at 6am and not stop in for an Ovaltine latte and an apple fritter to go?

The answer is I don't walk by it at 6am. I don't even include 5th avenue in my route to the office because if I did ...

^ Apple Store in an old Carnegie Library near the DC Convention Center. It struck me, as the library was a source of knowledge and now the knowledge can be accessed through an iPhone.

And the one on the UES of NYC on Madison is a beautiful reuse of an old bank. Which, now that you mention the knowledge piece, slapped me in the face about the money/ cost thing.

I had taken this picture to show there is no snow (except on the ski runs) as far as the eye can see. But on looking at it when I got home, I was blown away/ impressed beyond words by the young lady enjoying her day on the snowboard in the center of the scene.

Did you see her when you took the photo? It’s amazing that we take photos and often don’t notice what’s really in them until sometime later.

Nope. I was so focused that it was noteworthy that I had never seen NO snow on the tops of the mountains while getting off the lift that I didn’t even see her until I was uploading it to Flickr so I could post it about the snow.
Really, is a learning that when you are seeing something noteworthy you might be myopic and missing something remarkable.

Jorn, this has probably come up before, but I don't remember the answer:
Are beavers active in your area, and if so, do you have any on your land? That would be neat.
