I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
I need a 50 milliliter mocha pot.
I cannot find one (I won't shop Amazon).
My brother in Italy can't find one.
Do any of you know of a supplier?
Definitions (there's a reason for this...props if you can guess) : 50ml (-ish) does not mean 100ml or 80, or even 70. Fifty ml, means one demitasse "cup"...50-ish ml.
Stainless preferred but not mandatory.
Please help me!
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
Moka is how you spell the Italian stovetop espresso makers
Bialetti is the original. I also like the Alessi version although it's more fragile
The best size in my opinion—which is also the most difficult to find—but it's the 2 cup model which used to be my daily driver until I got into pour over
I swear by the Hario Switch if you like filter coffee
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
agree that the double is the variant you want of you are seeking one high quality demi-tasse. Once you are sputtering and no longer yielding crema you have over-extracted.
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
I shall repeat in an attempt to maintain focus on the mission: I've been on nearly 70 trips around our sun; please trust that I know what I'm after, unless you merely seek admission as an honorary older sibling that still can't seem to listen to his youngest brother!! :blink1:

Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
As I remember, there is no standardized volume for an Italian espresso "cup". An Italian espresso cup is generally somewhere between 40ml and 60ml. The smallest aluminum Bialetti Moka Express is described as holding 1 Italian espresso cup, but that Bialetti holds 60ml of water. However, because steam is produced, 60ml of water in an Moka Express will produce less than 60ml of coffee.
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
I just googled 50ml moka and got a million hits in Europe. It's the 1 cup Bialetti or equivalent model.
That shouldn't be hard to find in the States but make sure you spell right!
There's no way your brother in Italy can't find this: I'm literally scrolling pages of exactly what you're looking for
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
Bialetti "La Mokina" is 40 ml.

Perhaps some context will clarify: "Brother in Italy can't find one" = Brother in Italy can't find one on short notice, in his city, with limited time to finish shopping and other necessary domestic tasks in the few days before heading to the airport for a trip over here!
Thanks for the tips. If I can find the Bialetti Musa stainless, single demitasse cup unit I'll get that. They seem a bit thin on the interwebs; otherwise the aluminum one.
Interestingly, to me anyway, is that the folks where my brother was shopping indicated that Keurig has taken over for single cups. Gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets. I do not get it.
Models for two cups and up were plentiful.

I haven't seen any Keurig machines in Europe. Nespresso yes, Illy yes, but Keurig is a US product.

I assumed "pod" coffee machine = Keurig
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
Keurig machines, pfft. Stainless steel for decorative trim, plastic for everything that actually holds or moves the hot water. Anyone who has worked in an office with one knows that they do not last as long as the office printers. But so awesome they have a hi-res full-color display. Piece of shit waste generator.
Contrast that with the classic Bunn office coffee station. Yeah nobody ever made a new pot and that doomed it. And the glass pots burned the coffee on the warmer. But it was all stainless and glass and would survive a nuclear attack. It existed to sell us little Mylar pouches of bad coffee. But you could bring your own for a little pot of heaven.
The Keurig is the machine we deserve. Plastic fantastic lover.
I have the Bialetti you seek. It, like I think all Bialettis, is aluminum and not stainless steel (except the funnel insert). Never ever put it in the dishwasher (mine is scarred, I did not do it). Clean by wiping with fingers. Compost the grounds (which can mean just flinging it outdoors). Good luck on your search.

A few food co-ops and vegan oriented stores in the US can get them. We have two here in Western NY that sell the Bialetti's and can order them. Have you tried a local store like that?
You can find some surprising good coffee making items in these types of stores.

I'll go look around here for you too. They are a great hidden coffee gear spot!
Re: I need a 50ml Mocha Pot Espreso Maker
Turns out that my little Bialetti is really a Marimba. Measures 5” bottom to top of the top, looks a lot like this one that’s supposedly 7”:
