kaisei tubing.

any of you guys use/try Kaisei tubing? they are/were the old Ishiwata. my next build is a road build and it's gonna be almost all Kaisei. i'll post some material specs/highlights if ya'll are interested. this shit is NICE. i've done a few bikes out of it. if they made MTB sizes I would be seriously swayed to use it on everything. like Tom Kellog said of the old Ishiwata: "it's like little men polished the inside" let me know if you have any Q's. steve.

Who is carrying it? BTW at the Oregon Manifest show a fella was carrying around some new Tange tubes and lugs. I didn't get the full scoop on those, but I'm sure you know all about their offerings...

hey, man. what's your name? i know i met you at NAHBS 08. anyhoo, UBI is carrying the Kaisei. a full frameset of the non-heattreated tubing was $155.00 and included a base set of DT, HT, TT, ST { 31.8mm/1"/28.6/28.6}. i chose the .7/.4/.7 option. you have choices for the other tubes, but they are included in the base price. i chose the round/oval/round CS's and the 16mm SS's. you also get some really nice fork blades and a steer tube - all included. as per the new Tange, well - it's not the old Tange. it's just didn't seem to possess the same overall finish quality {i still have SOME circe 93'-94' issue - rapidle dwindling... :frown:}. if anyone has a different take/pics/experence i'd love to hear about their impressions. the Kaisei IS the same finish quality as the old Tange. sadly, i never got to build with Ishiwata.......Steve.

I'm Matt Cardinal, 1/2 of signalcycles. Yeah, I shook your hand at the last show and hope you got the impression that I am a big fan of coconino. I spend a lot of time looking at your fillets, pumping myself up before I head to the shop to attempt my own. Kind of like cranking AC/DC before the big race.

I recently had two Kalavinka frames built with the 019 version.
Akio Tanabe of Kalavinka uses Kaisei on the majority of his frames,
and speaks very highly of it. It seems commonly used in Japan
by the majority of custom builders there.

i built a few frames w/ 022.
that was similar to sl if i remember correctly.

the 19 is light stuff... i thk like the old columbus kl maybe?
