This is a Public Service Announcement. With guitars.
Last night in Boston I saw Sleater-Kinney do what they do. It was overwhelming, it was sublime.
This won't be the same, but I suggest you set aside 90 minutes tomorrow night: Live Tuesday: Sleater-Kinney In Concert : NPR
Here's the url for the show: http://www.npr.org/event/music/38819...ney-in-concert
Then make a generous donation to your local NPR station.

There's some vids from the show popping up.
First performance of "End of You" in ten years. Carrie flubbed a line but, good lord, it didn't matter:

Being from Portland, I had a lot of opportunity to see them live when they were first starting out in the mid-nineties. So good live. Saw them several times in Portland at La Luna and other small venues. Best though was a show in someone's basement in about 1996 I think with about 50 other people. They played a few then asked us what songs we wanted to hear. They all absolutely shred, and watching it from 5 feet away was impressive to say the least.

So here's one from the new record, also from last night. Whoever shot this was no more than a few feet from me. I couldn't have held a camera still - I couldn't hold myself still:

The record is great. Nothing like anything they've done before (which is pretty much par for them) - tight, hook-filled, and ferocious.

I'm an old guy and just don't completely get the whole pre-recorded music/DJ thing for a live show. Plus the photographer wandering around onstage and occasionally joining in the dancing.

Yeah I heard the new album kicks ass. Thanks for the heads up.
Re: This is a Public Service Announcement. With guitars.
Locals here in Minnesota have been thrilled she's opening for such a dynamic band. I missed Sleater-Kinney's sold out show at First Ave. Thanks for the video post above. Great stuff!

Thank you so much for the KEXP links. I'm on hour 3 of white might be a 14 day binge...

Holy mole, the soil-cheddar on Safari sucks. I meant "I'm on hour 3 of what might be..."

I'm gonna see them in May at The Masonic. So excited!!!!! I've seen the Corin Tucker Band and Wild Flag, but never all three of them together as Sleater-Kinney, so this will be awesome.
