3d printed molds

PBE14: Calfee Starts 3D Printing Carbon Fiber Molds, Gears Up for E-Bikes

Im a bit confused 5-6 years ago I was expecting this to die out we were using invar coated printed molds and they weren't cheap or that good

13 hours to machine a mould, you can do that in an hour on a VMC what are they missing? or is it just the 3d buzzword

Space and cost? At 13 hrs it makes me think they are using a smaller machine.

13hr for a half? must be printing an entire block like his old aluminum ones. his old white paper use to claim 200psi "compression molding" with the old aluminum blocks. you need a lot of ABS to pull that off.
