hi all

i've been tempted to go for one of these hubs and make a fork with the special dropouts for a while

i was wondering how many people have used the system so far ?

anyone had any issues with it ? reccomendations etc ?

I think it's a great idea, and I think you should install the dropout if you think you might want to use one of the hubs one day.

If you're going to make the fork anyway, might as well get it wired up. Just think about where you'll drill holes in the blade, and the crown.
I wonder about making a disc fork and drilling for wiring as well. Might work fine, or?

thinking of getting a batch of dropouts made locally by a firm that my dad has worked for in the past,

reynolds has now got 17.2mm tip road fork blades for disc use, might as well do it with the mounts on, hardly adds any weight !

if your going for the internal wire, do you run a small tube through the blade ? or just a hole at each end and go fishing ?

it works fine with disk. I always wanted to get a drawing of the inserts

are the dropouts something that might appeal to people here ? especially at a somewhat more favourable price than peter white is selling them for ?

I passed on a tube for the last wired fork I made, I just thought the hole would be too big and weaken the fork. Maybe I'm just conservative, but a touring fork sees lots of action, at least the way I ride:)
Peter will work with framebuilders, why don't you ask him if you qualify?
I've gotten many oem discounts but I have that needed liability insurance too. LLC, reseller business licenses etc.

I prefer to have stainless faces on all of my dropouts, which are made of highstrenght steel. The tolerances are not very easy to meet, if the stainless face on the inner side is a separate part. There is also a 24mm recess that hast to match the holes.

So far I only used it on disc brake forks, why not. I did not use tubes for the wiring, since the needed holes will be bigger and it sometimes makes no sense to use them at all. But there could be a case to find them useful.

When I go fishing like this I think "fly fishing". I take a length of tippett (super thin fishing line) and attach a bit of yarn fuzz to it. Then I use my shop vac to suck it right through the fork leg. Attach your wire to the line with a nail knot, and pull it right on through.
