This S&S / BMX travel bike is off to Barcelona in three weeks.
What a super-fun build. I'll get pics in the sun when I help her pack it in a few days, a super late night build at the end of a 14 hour day - I'm on the heating pad.

Andy Waterman of Privateer managed to take a photo of me that didn't make me look like the una-brazer, which is high praise indeed.

Being on the left end of the evolutionary scale, each frame is a new adventure into the unknown as I try different things.
Powdercoating with stainless lugs... tape and bake for 5 minutes to let the powder flow. Remove the tape, razor cut the shorelines and rebake.

There was a thread a few weeks ago about framebuilder mistakes. There is a very small sin on this Cross frame that is going to cause a repaint. I'll send a tshirt when the next batch arrives to the first person who can spot the issue who doesn't already know(you know who you are).

Until next week!
My uncle announced ahead of his 62nd birthday that he'd be riding the French Alps this coming September and that he'd be taking the bike I built for him three years ago to do it. This is the fulfillment of a decades old dream for him, and an honor for me that he'd choose his Budd Bike Works to ride some of the same storied passes that had been battled over by the heroes of the Tour De France. Anyway his initial paint job was showing some signs of wear and possibly a poor pre-treat from the powder coater at this point so the bike came in for a re-finish.
The new tinted clear powder coat is an antique bronze that looks amazing with the substrate visible beneath, as per usual my photography underwhelms but I hope he likes it when he sees it.
All the Best,
Matt Budd
