Last time I ate there I had to bribe my son with WC as a reward for riding his MTB 22 miles. We missed the exit to Lancaster and drove all the way to Columbus from Lake Hope. Then East on 70 farting/burping/onion-breath the whole way home.
The wife was so ecstatic at our dining choice she left the house for a shopping trip after gagging on our gas for a short time.
This was several years ago. And I was sober, unlike most people's drunk-n-dine stories.
Food truly unfit for stray dogs.

Growing up and esp. in High School out W.C. on the corner of Wisconson Ave. and Woodmont Street Bethesda. A bag of sliders after an evening of hanging out = heaven.
Ours was turned into a Chinese take out years ago :(
About 30 years ago in Queens, NY when slumming it with some school friends who lived in Great Neck, NY (Long Island's Gold Coast). I thought it was so cool to be out of the city (Manhattan) with some friends eating non-kosher food. I think I was on the toilet for 2 days after that experience and never went back again, ever.
I'll confess to having a trio of em in the past year. Had been clean for about 25 years prior to those.
Ages back, we had an office party featuring a "works bar" with bags of sliders, box wine and Mickeys. The lawn was littered with pink flamingoes and Hairspray on the screen.
I stopped at a White Castle many years ago on a road trip. I had two bites of the burger and then the whole bag went in the trash as I pulled into a Burger King to correct my mistake. Ugh.
My roommate in college held the esteemed position of "onion frier" at White Castle in Highschool. Love the $hit
Like 1989, my buds decided to do a 100k organized ride in anger, powered by nothing but White Castles. Just to eff with people's heads. Our guts were young enough to pull it off.
They were called White Tower near my college campus. Perhaps a rip off on the name but the practice of storing burgers in steam drawers was the same. Mostly staffed by stoners and ex-convicts which further validated the quality of the food...great meal after 1:00 am when a college kid will eat most anything.
A few trips in the early morning hours during my years in the Bronx. A cheese steak from Twin Donuts down the road was a better option. This Texan really wanted Whataburger at those times, though.
From St. Louis, family of 5 with 3 boys. Many times after church Dad would take us there and we would hit drive thru for lunch. I loved it cause I got to pick how many I wanted, 3.....4? I somehow loved that my Dad ordered a sack of 18 burgers. It was great. Don't think I have had one in the last 20 years though.
Pretty sure the memory is better than the real thing.
Did a weekend road trip where white castles were the primary food. Car was full of little greasy empty boxes. Smell probably never got out of the car. They are vile. I love them. If you are not putting down more than 10 at a time you are doing it wrong.

Only in my younger years when I had been over served. Funny, a week ago my daughter asked me the same question as this thread. I took her to one in the Bronx that had a drive through. It was clear from the marks on those cement barriers that snake you around to the window that a high percentage of their customers had been over served and should not have been driving.
But many years later and eating them sober; I am wondering if years ago the hangovers wouldn't have been as bad if I hadn't stopped at White Castle.
So... That's a strong correlation we have going so far between White Castle and the Bronx.
Columbus Ohio. Headquartered there. I ate them from birth until maybe 14. Maybe 5 - 10 at a time or whatever my dad would leave for me ...
Oh Brother! ~1974, Orange, NJ. We used to have to fight off the winos (should that be a Proper Noun?) to keep them from cutting the line once things got lively in there after midnight!
