My favorite YouTube "Can We Fix It" guys. From New Zealand so he's already cool. Then he does stuff like this. I understand the general approach, but the specific knowledge here is way beyond. Still I like the results. A lot. Those hub motors are really cool.

These vehicles are such a nuisance in term of noise pollution with an ICE that it makes a great application for an EV conversion.

Exactly. Noise pollution alone makes this a good idea. He has a hydro-electric system made from washing machine motors, which operate (as far as I understand it) on the same principles as the hub motors, just set up for power generating instead of power consumption. I’m really interested in hydro-power as we have a reasonably dependable creek on our property that could do some generation and supply power to areas too far from the utility.
