Leather Jackets
After a good pair of jeans, I think the one of the greatest pieces of clothing is a great leather jacket. With the warming weather, I've been back on the motorcycle for my commute and been wearing my Vanson Model A (AR2). Heavy as heck. Thick, full-grain cowhide. Protects from the wind and any eventual falls. Just a pleasure to wear. Anyone else got some leather jackets they like?

Re: Leather Jackets
I had a spectacular Walter Dyer that I bought in Provincetown, MA, for a few years. It was cut perfectly for my bod and it was one of the best things I've ever owned. Looked amazing. Looked a lot like the Vanson above, actually. Admittedly it wasn't a motorcycle cut - it was a street jacket- this was before my MC days.
During grad school I strongly suspect that a female "friend" of mine stole it from my house while I was hosting a party (I found out later that this individual had serious problems with kleptomania, and almost went to jail for impulsively stealing something that would be worthless to her).
I would do anything to get that jacket back.

Re: Leather Jackets
I have a custom made Bates. It's gotta weigh 10 lbs. It's also 30 years old and still sharp as ever with a little "patina."

Re: Leather Jackets
I still regularly wear the black leather fauxtorcycle jacket that I bought from Wilson's House of Suede & Leather probably 30-something years ago when I was playing in punk rock bands and looking like Johnny Ramone was part of the gig. I would love to have something a bit less ostentatious -- y'know, it's got all those chrome snaps and zippers -- but it's so incredibly warm and comfortable, and it seems like it's never gonna wear out. I may have to bite the bullet and actually give it away if I ever want to upgrade to an adult leather jacket.
