Will be there in a couple of daze.
Report will be as follows: arrest warrants, public indecincies, inciting riot.. No particular order!
The Earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those that are killing it have names and addresses- Utah Phillips
No gripes with event so far. Speeding ticket on the way down. Wasn't going that fast and it was clear that it was the 'trap the out of state' type of ticket. The parking machinations, etc. weren't in play yesterday so no complaints there yet.
Regarding the event, the course is nationals worthy. Couple of drop offs that are a little scary, stiff climbs and run up, lots of off camber that are already tough and will get very interesting if it gets wet later in the week. The course overall is the hardest I've even been on in terms of demands on both technical skill and power. To give my perspective, I'm a long time MAC racer, do Gloucester regularly and Providence occasionally, have done Nats at KC 2007 and I contributed to the tree killing in Austin. Rumor circulating is that many of the elites have found past courses too suited the age group masses and that USAC decided to build a true championship course this time. They succeeded. If Euros race on stuff like this every week, I can see why even the best Americans are pack fodder there.
Some more course recon today and then my race is at 1:45 tomorrow.
More to follow from the back of the pack..........

Said it in the other thread, but damn, wish I was racing.
Adam Myerson on Facebook:"the best nationals course ever" 'Maybe the best Us course ever".
Huge compliment for the organization I would say.
wow. that looks like it could be slick.

For those with friends racing you can use this website for live race timing. Looks like Vsalon's own Todd Mosley is on course currently, assuming it's the same person.
Are the races not being shown anywhere? Did I get spoiled by the live video feeds last year?

i don't know why, but i'm pulling for Shriver. I guess 'cause he's a mechanic with Axeon.

After watching the course Go Pro ride around the course I wish I was there. They have some wild bottom turns off some plenty steep drops. I feel sorry for the single speeders, lots of hiking with bike going to be going on there. I have been to the property and figured the race was not going to be on the front lawn cause they have tons of acres on the estate. Looks like one hell of a nice course, a bit European and a lot of space for big fields. If it rains look out on that one. Be interesting to hear the riders thoughts.
I am betting Mr. Neide that if you had a SS cog and freewheel business with new chains in Asheville you could come up with a handsome profit. I either ride my 39/17 or 39/18 cause that is all I have, but I would bet a 39/20 or even 22 will still have a bunch of suffering. I feel sorry in a "poor bastards" sense. But know for sure I will hear the retold stories of that race many times.A couple of friends of mine were switching to compact chainrings after the nonchampionship races yesterday. They were already using the words "Epic" and "Sketchy" a lot in their conversations with me. I saw where rain may show up later this week, yikes.
Yea, I could be tempted with a 40x20, I usually run 40x17 or 18. I just picture a lot of running which would negate the short gear and leave you wanting on the flat stretches. It will be interesting for sure!
FWIW, Asheville already has a SS cog company......Endless Bike Company | Products :)
The elite races will be online via cxmagazine's website...I'm not sure if it is limited to just the pro or if they are also showing any of the U23 action

looks like the U23s are being shown as well.
gonna need to stock up on beer if I'm gonna be watching 4 races on Sunday.
Everyone's watching the live feed, right? Looks like a great course. Any live commentary from the event?
That feed from ultrasport.tv was the absolute sketchiest, buggiest, crappiest internet broadcast I've even seen. More crashes than Cat 5's in the rain.
First world problems, yes, but who can I blame? USA Cycling, untrasport.tv, the Google/Chromecast, Verizon and Comcast?
That was really, really, weak.

I watched the cyclingnews.com feed with no issues. It got a little less crisp during the men's race, but I didn't miss anything due to the feed crapping out.
Really? Worked fine for me streaming online, minus the audio issue with the women U23 race.
Women's race was definitely more interesting than men's. Powers didn't ever look like he was really under pressure. He definitely knows how to win races where he is favorite.
