I watched the men's race online today post-ride (left Asheville yesterday). How could they not have a camera at the top of Heckler Hill?

Well, I have been here for the past couple of days, and heard nothing but good things about everything.

Women's race was great, KFC and Georgia were on each other's wheel for most of the race. I was standing where Georgia mis-rode the tech section and Katie opened up a gap. Antoneau was within 2 seconds of both of them with 2 laps to go. Top 3 women were head and shoulders above the rest. Pretty close racing.

Men's race was really pretty tight as well. Obviously Powers just rode away with a couple to go, but he never really just killed it. At least it was a race.

Corse dried up towards the end of the day, it got faster and held up well.

Looks like JPage got 5th? Who was the CalGiant kid that got 3rd?

I don't understand this at all. I thought they were all good races, with some pretty poor camera work (have these people ever filmed a race before?), and some weird things going on. What was that "congrats Jeremy Powers" thing? Nothing for KFC after 12 in a row? Also TJ corrected the guy twice, how come he kept saying 11?

I like seeing Logan going for it at times, lots of back and forth there. Hyde raced a smart race minus the few errors, he looked as if he was taking it easy for most the race before then. I was rooting for powers, I want to see him continue doing what he does so well.

Felt pretty bad for Curtis White, I was pulling for him. He raced himself pretty close up to Tobin at the finish.

The broadcast for the u23 womens race was embarrassing. No sound, not enough cameras, no idea what was going on. But awesome for Ellen to just go out and dominate, that course suited her well.

Lastly, I was running the stream straight off youtube (on the CX mag site), HD the whole time, never once an issue.

The course was so selective, 3 laps in and Powers-Hyde and Own had like over 2 minutes. Standing at the tech downhill it was interesting that the leaders are not only (much) faster on the power sections, but also where bike handling was needed.
Although Zach McDonald stole the show there too.
    What a great course!!!!

Logan Owen. He is under 23, moved up this year. Been national champ for his age group forever basically. I think he has mostly been pulled to the road. Podium was exactly the same for Jinglecross actually (you know, minus the two extra steps at nats).

I honestly didn't know anything about him until recently. I havent been into cross very long, and don't see/hear much about the west coast riders, especially if they arent around during the early season races (Holy Week), so I was looking into him.

I agree. My quibble about camera placement is minor. Great course, great venue, great time. My family and I had a great time.

I am guessing Logan will go the way of TJ Vandy. He is already riding pretty strong on the road. Lots more room to make money on the road than cross. Hope he stays in cross, but i doubt it. Kid has a motor and some skills.

I wish one of the big bike sponsors would tell one of the Belgian -or Dutch teams he had to be on the team, so he can race a full program overseas. He might have the most potential of any of the US riders , and they do know him already from his battles with van Aert and vdP in juniors.

anyone else have high hopes for Ellen Noble? i don't really know that she's focused on anything except CX. Which is apparently rare...and kind of awesome. And she's marketable.

The JAM kids know where to get their bread buttered, but like Powers and Hyde, Ellen and Scott Smith and Jack K are mtb racers deep down in their DNA.
If there was such a thing as professional xc racing in this country, those kids would be killing it there.

Ellen is the only Jammer with a separate mtb contract, last year it was on the Competitve Cyclist/Yeti program, this upcoming year it's the RideBiker Alliance team.
She's a full-time umass student, so doing the March and April xc racing out west doesn't work for her, but given a few years I would expect Ellen to go the route of full-time xc/cx pro more than the CX specialist route the boys on the team will get funneled into.

If Ellen isn't careful, she's gonna end up with a contract on a crit team. Hot damn.
