Froomey sounded petty at the finish line for calling out Nibali's timing.
He's winning the Tour, is in no danger, hasn't attacked himself in two weeks,
give the fans a fucking break and give the guy his props for going from so far out.

It's not like Nibali did one of those false "climber's fakes" where he takes the
opportunity to dig for 100 yards and then sit up.... it was 62km to the finish
for crying out loud. I really don't think VN had any other intentions than going
long for the stage win. He didn't attack Froome as much as take the opportunity
to get clear from that group.

Maybe Froome doesn't understand there is more to the Tour for the other riders
than the Yellow in Paris. However 'unsportsman like' it was, it's very
unworthy of a real leader to whine about such pettiness after. If he didn't like
VN's move, he had 62km to do something about it.

    Thomas is shot.

On Alpe d'Huez, there might be a lonely froomey wallflower at a Movistar-Tinkoff party.

Quintana will have to go no later than halfway up the final climb.

I am inclined to agree. It seemed a bit odd timing but then he made it stick and you're right about the 62km. They couldn't catch him. His descending skills are insane BTW.

First real sign of 'weakness' from Froome today. Not much weakness, but a sign of it. He's getting tired and so is his team.

You put it more gently than I would have. And he does have expertise in un-classy.

Froome usually says the right things, but he doesn't seem to have anywhere near the personal
perspective of other tour winners. Guys like Wiggins don't have to shoot off their mouth back at
this kind of stuff, they're above it. If the behaviour really is below board, you let others
make the case for you. That's class.

While Froome maybe could have worded it better there still is an issue with the attack if you are supposed to respect the jerssy and not attack on mechanicals etc. while Nibali himself doesnt provide a threat what he could have provoked was a complete group attack on Froome while he was off his bike, especially since Valverde/Quintana want to protect their podiums.

While we're on the subject of respecting the jersey - it was only 3 years ago that he but his yellow jersey wearing team leader in an awkward position. Froome has a short memory.

Froome seems not realize that respect is earned and he seems not to have earned it.

A lot of fans seem to think that the idea of "racing" is quaint and old-fashioned.

I don't count a chain drop as a mechanical. Nobkdy's forcing him to use o'symetric chainrings so Froome must accept the benefits as well as downsides of a non matching group.

It's not like he crashed because of a motorcycle or his seatpost suddently snaped, there is no reason for a rider to wait for a yellow jersey who fuck up a gear change.

To continue in the classy/unclassy subject, the worst thing I saw in the TDF was Barguill not taking the time to check if Thomas was okay after his crash a few days ago. I can accept the mistake of overshooting a corner but he came to a complete halt and could have waited a bit before remounting and/or helped Thomas chasing after that event.

I truly hope he didn't realise at that time that Thomas had fallen.

I saw what I thought was a chain issue, as well, but he's stating tar/ a rock got stuck between his brakes and tire.

You don't need to go back to Wiggins tour. What about last week when Froome sprinted around Quitana within 50 feet of the finish line after following him the entire climb. That was a real doucheballs move.

I hope so, I am rooting for great excitement of attacks tomorrow. Although I am hesitant to declare Thomas out. Perhaps his not able to stay with the front group today meant he got to have a little rest, and reserve some for tomorrow to help Froome. Will see.

Racing is racing. Mechanical choice, maintaining function, luck are all part of the race. Nibali saw the opportunity and took it. I just wished Valverde had gone with him and would have made it even more exciting.

I liked how the dissent from different commentators/former racers were broadcasted despite Liggett kept on mentioning unsportsmanship.

I know TV never got much praise, but I have enjoyed watching this year. Kudos for broadcasting the race.

Also interesting to see if Bardet able to keep the Climber Jersey with stage tomorrow when Froome lurking right behind and GC on the line.

Nibali going did force the rest of the peloton to chase due to podium positions and most importantly, forced Froome to burn a match to catch back up to the accelerating peloton. That extra match may have contributed to him losing the extra 30 seconds today and who knows what tomorrow.

Seemed Bush to me and Froom's antics after the race were pretty bad too.
