He was looking so easy last year I don't think Froome or Bertie would have done any better but of course it's just an "if"

Be very surprised to see Contador on top step. Getting older and while talk of a double is grand, I think he hedged with the Giro win knowing the Tour was likely out of reach. I hope they collectively attack the hell out of Froome early and Sky folds up like lawn furniture. Can't root for Astana so that leaves me pulling for Quintana to elevate for the win.

    Polka dots and green....who cares....

I look forward to the "surprise" stage winners, maybe emergence of a new Tommy V. Like character for the home team, and some breaks surviving against the odds.

If we could all only "hedge" by winning the best and first GT of the year...

Would love to see a podium of Contador, Quintana, and a Frenchman.

If Contador can't win I want a French winner. Not podium, but winner. It's about time someone emerges from the giant shadows of Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon.

Contador is a smart cookie. Wins the Giro and gets lauded for trying to double. If he does win the Tour it's absolutely brilliant. Not likely but brilliant.

For reference, I usually hedge by going after the minor town line sprints on Wednesday nights....

    Exactly.

I'm not expecting the Tour to be nearly as exciting or drama-filled as this year's Giro.
For the last few years, the Giro was the GT of the season to watch every stage.
Every Tour has it's moments, but holy moly the Giro has been off the charts great

Not hoping for; but if he does nor crash; Froome will win. Hoping for Quintana or Nibali or AC to win the thing.
BTW the level of the Tour is so high. So many exiting races the last 6 months (the last weekend looking at the Belgium and Britisch nationals!) and now suddenly everybody is there!!!

I think it's depending a lot of the meteo... Forecast for next week is stormy weather for tuesday and cobble stage... If so i put a piece for Nibali first, quintana 2nd, contador 3rd.... But if no rain next week i think (but hope not) froome 1st, quintana 2nd and contador 3rd... And in my dreams pinot 1st, contador 2nd and quintana 3rd

If he can avoid trouble-especially in the first week-I don't see anybody being able to climb with Quintana at his best. Mosvistar is sending a strong team around him to keep him out of trouble and to do well in the TTT. Having said that, Contador is the best grand tour racer in the ranks today, and in my mind is the man to beat. As always, Froome will require a healthy dose of luck to avoid adversity and be in the running by the final week....I view Nibali the same way...I don't think he is on the same level, but if he benefits from good luck while some others experience bad luck, then we could witness a repeat

Can't decide. Would like to see Bert pull off the double. But wouldn't mind seeing Quintana step up and win one. But I also would like to see Nibali quiet all those who said he won against a weak field last year.

Really I guess I am just rooting against Froome.

Eurosport introduced a new player before it was completely ready, and the playback has been driving people crazy. Seems to use a huge amount of bandwidth and creates a lot of stutter in the view. Audio comes through without anything breaking up and there isn't a lot of buffering, just a super choppy feed. Pretty unwatchable, and it isn't just because of Hola as people in England are complaining too. Seems like they just created a program that doesn't render the stream very efficiently and that's taxing everyone's connection. Perhaps as a sign of the number of people who are discontented is Eurosport's promise to bring out a "new" version of their old player as an alternative in about a week, and their request that you send them performance data from your computer (no thanks) if you are having problems. Sounds like one of those situations where someone believed everything the programmers said.

So happy to see that everything kicked off today with Daniel Teklehaimanot! I won't watch much more today, but might just follow it this year.

    Saab,

I think you've hit upon it. Froome and Nibali will have teams completely dedicated to them with nobody in the ranks allowed to have any delusions otherwise. With Tinkoff, you've got Sagan and Majka lurking behind Contador. Those two could arguably lead their own teams in their own right. It'll be interesting.
