I think that was the strongest second place finish I've ever seen props to Dan Martin today.

Strongest second place finish ... you mean since yesterday?

I liked Bauke Mollema fighting spirit in the last climb while every other team leader seemed content to follow Froome's wheel.

That's what happen when your team manager was raised in a dictature to ultimately become a hero and a friend of the leader.

I am sure he already sent a letter to Nibs, demanding improved performance and threatening a pay cut or outright firing.

Yesterday's second was a show of dominance and a tactical move (to take away bonus seconds from Quintana). And Porte didn't have quite the same gap to close, nor did he bridge up to a break like Martin did.

Like I said before: since day 1, Nibali couldn't be bothered. I can't understand why he went to France, rather than enjoying that beautiful sea on a Sicilian beach

With career Grand Slam completed last year, perhaps now Nibali lacks motivation?

After yesterday I feel a lot of the wind went out of the sails of what was a extremely entertaining first week. Majka and Martin brought some interest to the stage today but I think breakaways is the only suspense left.

I would have thought that Contador and Movistar and Katusha would start ganging up on Froome like they did Hesjedal in the Giro a few years ago, and they migh eventually, but right now they must be too gassed.

Thursday's stage to Pau will tell what whether or not they will have anything to test Froome.
Today it would have been a wasted effort, the course was made for the result we saw.

Froome has repeatedly acknowledged the work done for him, by his team, that enables him to ride his strategy; amongst the other variables, unknowns and what ifs, is whether or not Sky can sustain that. Even if they have the fitness (I'm guessing they do), crashes, illness, weather could all be factors in their not being able to back Froome to the end. So it's not a given that Froome will now easily defend his lead all the way to Paris; no need to write off the spectacle just yet!

And yes, teams could well work together against Sky, bolstered/capitalizing on the chaos caused by the efforts of the loan wolves out to snatch a stage, or those teams (Astana and others) who've (effectively) lost a leader and so are out for what they can get.

Froome's gonna attack inside 3k and the race for the yellow will be over. it's a guess. hope i'm wrong. but nothing is sticking and Froome still has cards to play.

I think it was unsporting for Froome to contest a sprint at the finish. You crushed all your opponents two stages ago, your team reeled in all their attacks today, there was nothing at stake in the GC. So why?

    He can't help himself.

Wow does the GC ever become super-boring to watch in this formula.
Time to focus on all the other aspects of the race. It would be great to hear
the other stories that are taking place, but that won't happen.
