    Went with the aluminum Chameleon.

Thought about buying a built bike but didn't like the fork and build kits. Am on a semi-mission to simplify my wrenching time by having the same suspension parts, drive trains, hubs, BB's and brakes as much as possible. I won't win the battle but heck, just having the same brakes on all mtn bikes would be fine.

Cool man, you will have fun. I have been riding a SS 29er for 8+ years now. Tried a full suspension 27.5 as a second bike, did not like it at all. I just have more fun grinding things out and letting 'er rip down descents. Walk when you absolutely have to. It's part of the SS "fun."

I imagine you went with a 29er. A buddy on mine is on a Chameleon and loves his.

You'll figure out what ratio works for you and the terrain you ride. Personally, I ride 34x22 in SoCal (we have BIG long climbs here).

Tnx and yes, went with 29'er. Checked some buddies here on gearing. 32x18 and 32x20 were where folks similar in strength / technical to me are netting out so went with the latter to start.

Should be fun. Have always enjoyed riding fixed on the road and few trips to T-Town so this SS dirt thing ought to be fun too.
