Default Rock d'azur: where are the dropper ?

    Roc d'Azur 218 : Tempier, 6 ans apres ! - Vojo Magazine

I can't seem to be able to spot a dropper post among the top guys. I know the course (did it 4 times), it has a few tricky and steep descents.

    Discuss.

I have no interest in a dropper post as I don't need them for my local riding, but, nothing in those pictures looks very technical.

And that looks like a dropper (bottom right of pic)

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?

It's been quite a few years since what top pro's ride is relevant to the real world.
Normal people ride what works for them. Pro riders have different criteria for equipment,
time to "drop" the marketing delusions. Any Mountain Bike i'd own would have a dropper.

These guys aren't paid to have fun on their bike. By your logic you should drive a 54t front ring like Stephane Tempier

My take is the dropper is what makes the difference between these guys struggling in the descent and that swiss enduro guy in yellow having fun and yelling yeeeppaaa while storming past them at full speed:

Disclaimer : I raced the marathon race of the Roc d'Azur 2 years ago, with a dropper and you would have to pry them from my cold dead hands. I saw many riders putting a foot down in those descents while I was comfortably in control. I also chatted a bit with a rider on a rigid single speed MTB with 2" tires. He was faster than many guys around us and but that doesn't mean it was the best tool for the job either.

i feel the same way about droppers as Charlton Heston felt about his .45.

    From my cold, dead hands.

As I waited at the bottom of the hill for Lionel to descend, I pondered for a good 5 minutes until he showed up complaing about something. I that moment I realized a dropper will not help Lionel descend faster.
