also, on the general topic of "reliable, light, reasonably priced hubs," I am having a hard time finding fault with the Spank Hex Drive hubs. $100 for the front, $200 for the rear. unless there's some serious long-term shortcoming to these, that's a heck of a deal.

I still like the Boyd Tripel option as well, but Spank has a good reputation. anyone actually ridden either?

one more note: Industry Nine is making 1/1 hubs (fka 101). very, very nice-sounding hubs on their own merit, but lacking the bling of Hydras. made in North Carolina but totally competitive with several Asian counterparts.
very fast engagement at 4 degrees
    CL and 6B options
    HG, microspline, and XD drivers
    boost spacing only
    black only

In my search for new hubs, I think those will do it. because of the current global situation, I am now more keen on buying a domestic-made product.

Iíve been riding two sets of I9 1/1 hubs since October, one set on a bike that sees lots of trials-style riding. Canít complain.

Another vote for I9. No real problems with mine and I’ve got their hubs on all my bikes.
