Only bike in the stable that I didn't make. I've got ape like proportions but the Pivot fits really well. My riding buddy likes it too.

Nice image, Jason. Lighting looks just like a Dali painting:

We can chalk that up to pure dumb luck.

i have a specialized epic with xt stuff.
every day it shocks me how well the stuff works.

    past mt bikes include:
    miyata something around 1982
ross signature ( built by jim redcay )
    3-4 assorted fat cities
    a ted wojcik
full suspension off road somewhere in there
    merlin extralite
    current specialized

when i had the extralite i traded bikes with a guy who had a fs 29er.
so much better. i never rode the merlin again.. sold it right afterward.

i love to mt bike in winter when the ground is frozen. it rules.

Me too. A Specialized Stumpjumper FSR from 2008, the base model. It's fantastic fun all winter long.

I keep one set of wheels set up with studded tires, one with the stock tires. Done.
    GO!

Steve Potts 29er with 100 mm Fox fork.I picked it up the second week of Sept. after an 11 month wait. In the stand at Black Mountain Cycles in Point Reyes waiting for completion on the build . Photo by Mike Varley.
Sorry don't have any decent closeup shots of on the trail. Have just under 500 miles on it. Rides great, needless to say.

I agonized and went back & forth on his Type II fork. I was lucky and able to locate a local Potts SS Type II for one demo ride, although it was about 3 sizes too big. Still highly considered it.

But in the end, being 61, having an arthritic neck and being a Pro Musician (pianist)--the cush won out.

After riding this beauty the past few months on the rutted, dry, rocky fire roads in LA that have been ravaged by the extreme drought- I definitely chose wisely with the shock.

Hey thanks very much Nierman. A longer wait then I anticipated but worth it. And Steve is such a great guy to deal with and just basically know.

Here is not the greatest picture(s) from a Facebook post. Although you can kinda make out the ocean over my shoulder on that first one.

This was the first ride out in the Santa Monicas with my friend John Mahon. John has been Elton John's percussionist/vocalist for the past 18 years and he was able to squeeze in a ride from a brief respite of touring with Elton.

We actually have another ride scheduled in a few weeks out in the Cheeseboro area. I don't own an iphone or smartphone (not too smart ..lol) so maybe I can get John to take some more shots up a tad closer.

I'll play! This bike is my first handbuilt of my own. I'm pretty happy with it. It's currently getting powder coated. I think my SC Tallboy and Trek Stach are going to be neglected for a while.

I just checked your build thread on the MTBR forum. Love your dimpling tool!

Thanks David! It got the job done! Now I need to build a balance bike to match! I really liked the pair of bikes you did for you and your kid.

Thanks. Yeah, it was fun having matching paint jobs. You'd like my dimpling tool as well -- similar to yours, but instead of wood I use the sliding part off a pipe wrench.
