    Default Ibis Exie Incoming

Back on the Ibis train after a brief dalliance with another brand. My Ripley v4 was the best bike I've owned. I'm back on it while I'm waiting for the Exie.

Planning to build a sub-25lb bike...how much below 25lb is yet to be determined. Nothing exotic but the frame itself is a mere 2000g with a shock.

Hoping it won't take too long but at least I don't have to worry about containers being stuck on a ship somewhere. #MUSA

Looked at in on their website. Very nice. I have the V4 Ripley and really love it but it is a bit portly. But for someone of my mtb "ability" the plushness of the V4 is what I need. Cant wait to see this.

I'm guessing you sold the Ranger? Did you post a detailed review of it anywhere?

i didnt post anything detailed. it is a fine bike. i just thought that the only thing i was giving up vs. my ripley v4 was travel.

i saw one of the first exies at my shop and i couldn't resist. if i can drop 10lbs of me and 4-5lbs of bike, i should fly up the hills (joking kinda)

so i was back on the ripley today. and i want to apologize to ibis for my infidelity. what a great bike. just pedals better.

as it turns out, the ranger frame is actually **heavier** than the ripley. so all the weight savings was only coming from the stupid light SID. but i think that led to the bike feeling unbalanced. the ripley climbs better. i'm hoping that the exie will pedal the same way, but just be a few pounds lighter.

the other thing i noticed was bob. pedalling for a stop i feel no bobbing from the ripley. it was definitely noticeable on the ranger. so DW Link > CBF i guess. in general, the ripley feels more planted i'm guessing partly due to the weight distribution and the suspension design.
