    Default Could you ride this?

My son sent this link, he's a pretty high level rider, rides Squamish a lot when he's in BC(or used to since covid now restricts entering Canada), says to him a lot of this is not rideable, especially the rock slabs. You may want to turn down the audio, maybe not.

Living in the area I am fine with the slab lines, but would not hit the larger drops

Some of those slabs are exceedingly steep however.

My rule is I am fine on most double black stuff in bc, but some of the gnarlier stuff gives me pause as I have to go to work and use my hands on Monday.

Background in BMX and bike trials so I am fine with the very slow speed brake stuff, and then lots of experience on steep roll lines as they are my favorite features to hit

No. Anything that requires a rope to go down is not for me.

having just broken my hand MTBing, that video both made me very excited and scared

the crazy part about videos, is those guys make it look easy...i cant imagine how steep that stuff is in person

i took a video of my kid launching off a log on a pretty steep descent and landing it...looked easy on replay...then i tried it and crashed

I am generally not afraid of the steep stuff. Well I am when I haven't been riding steep stuff for weeks/ months but after a few ride I get my brain calibrated and I'm fine. I can go down some really scary rock or roots gardens, can hit drops but I am a chicken when it comes to jumps with a ramp. Probably because I never did BMX.

A very good reason to hold back.

Having spent time in Squamish, I'd say that a lot of these lines are equivalent to approach trails for rock climbing. Most of us would struggle to scramble up/down the area. That said, the speed that he's riding these things...the drops he's taking...I hate to say it, but I think he's on borrowed time. I feel like I'm watching a free-solo climber or a base jumper. You can't go that big and fast without the occasional mistake, and it's only going to take one to change the trajectory of his career.

Also I should add that when I say ride I mean absolutely crawl down those segments. I would likely die trying to hit stuff that fast
