I remember a piece by english magazine Mountain Bike on Ross Schaeffer where he went against suspension forks "It got us banned from trails." I still feel it is not needed on a bicycle.

94 A La Carte. At the height of anodizing everything. So nothing but silver and black to buck the trend. Frame is just clear coated. (I've come full circle, newest bike is metallic neon green with purple anno parts) Bullseye hubs to those Matrix Mount Titan rims. Creaky as hell Kooka cranks and flexy brake levers. 1st gen Avid Tri-Aligns. Frame and half the parts are still in the garage. Need to hunt down some wheels and get it back on the trail.

My first mountain bike race during the summer of 1987 in Lake Placid at Mount Van Hoevenberg (where cross-country skiing took place at the Olympics). I was 17 at the time and had raced BMX for many years, but after the sport's decline I started getting into mountain bikes. The race was put on by High Peaks Cyclery, which is still in business today!
The race had a cross-country stage, an obstacle course/trials stage, and a hillclimb stage. I did pretty good in the XC race. Was doing good in the obstacle course but then flatted. The obstacle course section was timed and they also were counting dabs on a couple of the trickier obstacles. Had a blast!
I’m on a Cannondale with an early Bontrager switchblade fork, WTB dirt drops, an Ibis LD stem, Cook Bros cranks, Bullseye hubs, and rollercams in the back.
I’m sporting an Oakley Factory Pilot t-shirt, Factory Pilot glasses with clear lenses, a Vetta helmet, and some kind of Specialized shoes.
In the shot of the Lake Placid sign is my Mom and Phillipe who was a French foreign exchange student who was spending the summer with us. Dad was taking the picture.

Did someone say Rhygin?
Pretty sure I've posted this before, but here it is...
SS Juke survivor with disc retrofit (wtfbbq) and Igle fork (ftw).
Syncros cranks. Hyperlite bars. SRAM 1x9 with triggers.
These days, this is the bike I ride with my kids, usually without the tow but sometimes the 4yo needs turbo mode.
I've been toying with the idea of a dropbar conversion on this for a few years. Might be pushing my luck with that idea...

Rake is 1.5 on the Yo fork. Wicked came w/ the usual unicrown w/ 1.75 rake. A-C is the same. Front end would be shorter w/ the yo fork and handling would change a bit.. i guess. I like the long chainstays on the wicked but the front feels a bit challenged in rough ground. Thing is: those yo eddy forks are hard to find and cost is silly.
slow.
I had a certain fellow build me one back in 2008 (for my 1990 Wicked) - segmented, but with the 1.75 Wicked rake.
700 grams or so IIRC. Oh so sweet.
Yeah - up in post #19 on this thread.
Yup - and he dropped big bucks on a respray I believe. Anyway, after buying that 1991 Stumpy above, the Wicked lost it's luster. Even though I LOVE Fats, that ugly grey $75 Craigslist 1991 Stumpy was easily its equal - if not better.
RP
-arms and shoulders totally beat this AM from biting off more than I could chew this weekend with my rigid, SS Slingshot on a trail that I vowed to never ride it on again.
