We took my father-in-law’s truck & camper to Moab for our honeymoon in ‘92 with a couple of Diamond Back Overdrive bikes. The quintessential cyclist honeymoon riding slickrock.
No pics, but the bikes are still around and we’ll be celebrating our anniversary when we drop off our youngest at Cal Poly in about 3 weeks!

Hey Garro, love the before and after pictures. Those look to be some kind of Hotshot arms. Amazing how a few years on the wrong end of a Pulaski can do that to a guy. I may be in Kalispell mid Sept. will try and get you a Mooses Shirt. Don't want to see you dancing on tables in your Whites in the shirt either. Glad you started this thread. Great bikes.

I went to a party once that turned out to be a dress-up occasion in the early 90's and was getting shit from a bunch of preppies about my attire and I said "Which one of you is wearing $300 shoes?"

That shut them up.

In 1989 my parents bought me one of those Bianchi mtb's with a silly "triangulated" design, IIRC the weight was an obscene 17kg, but that was the beginning of wrenchin' and many parts were replaced on that bike. At some point it had a high-rise stem and drop bars

Eventually, the upgrade was done with a local brand and that was 7020 Oria aluminium with Deore DX groupset, I rode that bike a lot and still have it. Those were the golden years when going out with a nice bunch of chaps on sunday or during the week. Money was low but fun was high then!

Growing up, I had the means to buy what used to be the forbidden dream of that era: a nice road bike, and a nice Mtb.
The Supercorsa was the first to come, and it was love at first pedal stroke. A few years ago I could put together a The Next Machine and has been a bit of disappointment, but I feared that because I was more kee on the frame without the elevated chainstays (it was called "The Machine" only). So the latter gets used only for Vintage meetings as a "show off" bike and it's disappointing. One day I'll have to sort out the brakes making an horrible noise and the rear mech needs a new cage.

Anybody else have a wandering eye when travelling? Mackinac Island is filthy with bikes. Look what I noticed leaning against a rack:

Campy off road group with black cranks - as you do for an Island beater bike!
Tange Shockblade totally collapsed!
Non-busted Scott AT-3 LF handlebar!
Front fender, rear rack, cable lock sitting in the rack unused.

A few pics of Canadiana

First up is a Brodie Climbmax, ridden at the first world cup at Mte Ste Anne. It is either an 89 or a 90, can't fully remember. It now has a custom Paul Brodie fillet brazed stem on it instead of the syncros.

Next up is a Dekerf Team SL from 1995.

It too has a custom Paul Brodie stem on it.

The dekerf is now being used weekly for trailer duty.

One thing I really now regret doing last year is selling a tonne of paper and memorabilia (programs, promo materials) from the early World Cups at Mte Ste Anne, the money seemed more important then, but now I realize the paper was worth something to me. Still have the t-shirts from those early days.

Not mine - depends on the MG model - this was a racer, plain & simple = you wanted a touring bike, they made the De-luxe.

Long, low, stretched out, team Sierra Nevada paint job, low rake on the fork, proper stem for the geometry, proper gage tubing.

Just PROPER.

Riding sandstone 1/2 pipes in Moab, 1988 - that's an '87 Yeti FRO made in Malibu, CA before the big move to CO.

Man.......that thing was a POS !!!!

It broke so many times - not surprising in retrospect, I guess I should be glad the head tube stayed on.

Summer of 1994. Somewhere in Missouri. I got second in this race. I remember seeing this guy way ahead of me as we were riding a straight but hilly fence line. I knew we were close to the finish on the final lap but I would have to blow myself up to catch him. I looked behind me and there was no one. So, I knew if I failed there would be no penalty. I went balls to the wall and beat him for second by a tire. As I laid there, collasped at the finsih line, gasping for air, I heard Cracker on the PA playing Euro Trash Girl. Fat Chance Buck Shaver with Kooka cranks.
