Default Bike (and Surfer, Powder, & Snowboarder) Magazine Shut Down

According to multiple sources, Bike, Powder, Snowboarder, and Surfer magazines are being shut down by their parent company, American Media Inc.

Well, that sucks. Even as I felt the magazine had become less interesting to me somehow in the last few years, I still kept my subscription, as I had for decades. I looked forward to Butcher Paper and Grimy Handshake, and whatever far-off biking destination they were featuring that month. I appreciated their reviews. I loved their continued emphasis on kick-ass photos. That magazine was instrumental in shaping my views around mountain biking, and I'll miss thumbing through the pages that arrived on my doorstep every month or so.

I hope all the current staff find good homes.

RIP Bike Mag. I was a digital subscriber.

As an aside, does anyone have this year's Summer issue with the UCSC tanks? The issue before last. I meant to pick up a paper copy. Happy to pay for postage if you'd mail it to me.

Some friends and I were maintaining the "Black Lives Matter" paint all summer against some un-woke vandals. Made it into Bike Mag and was hoping to frame it. I had pictures from Bike Mag pinned to my walls growing up. I was really proud to have made it into the magazine especially in the way we did.

Let me check; I am pretty sure I do. I have a few sitting around from the last few months that have taken a backseat due to a move that is wrapping up now.

From the link in the #1 post above:

......... I'll forever have a soft spot for print media there's something about holding a magazine in your hands and actually turning the pages that makes it seem more real, more significant and less ephemeral than online content

    Exactly!

That's pretty cool! The full article about the tanks in the next issue (Fall Photo Annual) was really great. I loved the part about Chido the dog! If you don't get the mag, here's the shot he's talking about. You can see Chido on tank #2 :
