Default Alt (Mary) Bar - Fit Considerations or Adjustments?

I'm thinking about setting up a rigid 29er to use on some of the rougher gravel roads and lighter single track around here. Something that will fill the gap between the CX and FS in terms of tire size and pedaling efficiency, etc.

For a while now, I've been interested in trying out the On-One Mary bars, or something like them. Something with a more drastic sweep than the MTB, but not a full-on dirt drop type bar. As I haven't bought a frame yet, I'm wondering how a back-swept alt bar would affect frame fit - it seems like (in terms of reach) they sweep back far enough to fall somewhere between a flat bar and a drop, and that the frame could be sized accordingly in between my CX and MTB.

Anyway, after checking out the Mary bars, I'm also kind of convinced that I'd like them more if they were inverted, and I see from the innerwebz that I wouldn't be the first. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks all.

Groovy Luvs sweep forward before they sweep back, allowing you to keep roughly the same position. Also, they're awesome.

For 1/2 dozen years, I've been riding inverted Misfit Psycles FU2 bars (they have FUBARS as well, wider and sweepier I think). Can't compare to the style-factor of the Groovy mentioned, but I liked them better than the Marys. Plus, there's a little straight area nearest the stem clamp if you're into mounting lamps or computers. Marys make a quicker swoop forward. Fit didn't change much to notice, however riding regular bars feels weird now.

I have the Salsa bars (can't remember the name) that are similar to the Luv Handles. They sweep forward then back. I switched them out on the same stem and liked it a lot. I am on the order list for some Ti Luv Handles and can't wait to get them any day now.

I used the 17 degree Salsa Bend 2 bar for several months on an FS 29er. I didn't like what the bars did to the handling of the bike, it never felt right. I don't know better to explain. I found that a wide-ish 9degree sweep with 5 degree rise bar is the best compromise.

I didn't notice any difference in handling but my wrists really like the extra sweep.
