The Sac area does not have a ton of micro brews, but there are a few. Just East is the oldest wine growing region in California with some memorable red wines (e.g., Runquist Barbara and Zins) while Napa is not that far with the whole spectrum of wines. Then there is Tahoe .... this is one of the gems in the world of geography ... Lots to please the whole family

Within two blocks of the host hotel and expo is a Pyramid Brewing restaurant/brewery.
Sacramento used to have lots of microbrews, but with the economic downturn, we lost a few of them.

IIRC, Davis still has Sudwerk, which is really tasty if you like German style suds.

For a short drive to get to some good food/beer and great riding you can head to Auburn (about 30 minutes East on I-80 from Sacramento) or Folsom area. Auburn is kind of halfway between Tahoe and Sac so is a good stopping off point headed to or from Tahoe.

Don, please correct this if incorrect: Venue is the Sac. Convention Center, which is in midtown. The Sheraton is adjacent to the Convention center. There is a Hyatt that is just a couple blocks away. Sheraton is newer.

First, let me say this; I grew up in Sacramento, but in the burbs. Anything that has a number or a letter for a street is "downtown" in my eyes. The Capital is "downtown" to me. The Hotel, CC, K Street Mall, Memorial Auditorium, etc, is all downtown. Call it Midtown, call it uptown, call it what you will, but I see it all as "downtown".

The Sac CC is the venue.

Sorry about the delayed reply, I havent been able to log into the salon for 2 days...?
