Probably not what you're looking for (but maybe someone else, ya never know) - Zefal Gizmos - they're fiddly to install but they do work.

What's wrong with duct tape ? It wouldn't look worse than any of those adapters.

Damn, I knew I should have consulted Red Green before asking the salon.

Yeah, ive had plenty good luck with that on my race bike, only trouble is cleaning if you do any mixed terrain type rides. The king cage ones look good, but with some cages you could just use a standard pipe strap. and go under the cage, but over the tabs were the bolts would go.

Wrap an old inner tube around the frame, then place cage on top of the inner tube and use electrical tape to tape it on.

I found that method worked best, protected my frame, and the inner tube "gripped" the cage a little bit. Never lost a bottle (or cage) using that method.

I picked up one of the Elite VIP mounts and mounted it in ~5 minutes. Seems to securely hold the cage in place and doesn't look too obtrusive. I'll get another for the seat tube and call it a day. I'm not going to worry about having mounts brazed on before paint.

I'm quite surprised that the eRichie method hasn't been mentioned...

This *might* fix that, though it uses proprietary bottles. Birzman Bottle Cleats
