Default SISL2 chainring bolts ..da hell?!?!

Here's a weird one: I have a Cannondale SISL2 crankset on my 2018 CAADX. Been getting some creaking/clicking while pedaling so, along with a ton of other things, thought to check my chainring bolts for tightness.

The small chainring, accessible from the back, use a standard 4mm hex wrench. (Or maybe it was 5mm? I forget...but I just grabbed one of my common metric hex wrenches and it fit perfectly.)

These large chainring bolts though...neither 4mm nor 5mm fits!

Would Cannondale actual mix metric and non-metric bolts on the same spider?!?!?

Bolt head is behind the small chainring, should be a 5mm or whatever you can access from there

oh sweet jesus, so I have to remove the small chainring before I can even just tighten the big chainring? How unnecessarily inconvenient!

    Thanks.
