Yeah yeah yeah, I know it's Wednesday. Lets make this a regular Tuesday item.

I finally broke down and bought a new headset press. The cyclus model I had been using was a nice prosumer model but it was time for something more robust that would also press in the newish 44mm cups. The park is one of the nicest models made but being the contrarian I am I had to find something different. Bringheli. I buy a lot of Tubes from Joe and know his frame building tools are top notch. This thing is no different. While it may not be quite as quick to use as a quick release style it's incredibly heaftey and is a pleasure to use. Super well made. Thanks Joe.

Yes, and the acme nut on the bottom comes off too. There are two thrust bearings also. The press comes with brass inserts and Joe machined an aluminum set for the 44 standard on request. The weight and heft of this thing is really nice.

Seriously though, awesome stuff. I'm a sucker for nice tools. I've got the Cobra BB taps and headtube reamer/facer/press. Bloody nice gear.

I've been going all German of late, sneaking in a whole pile of nice quality Gedore 10mm drive sockets a few at a time to keep them under the radar, plus a 10mm and 13mm drive Stahlwille ratchet and a nice 13mm Gedore torque wrench.

I'm vaccilating between building and buying a decent quality wheel truing stand at the moment...

acme rod the only way to build a great press add thrust bearings and it becomes super , way back before I bought my old school park I had a acme rod, cups, washers and thrust bearings , I have always missed the bearings the most

NICE. I just ordered a Unior press, along with a dozen or so other items from them. I almost went Cyclus, but I'm thinking the Unior might stand up to shop use a little longer, and yet be a little less crude than the Park. I'll post here when it arrives.

I got tired of reassembling my ancient Shimano housing snips every time I used them, so I got a Park CN-10. Nice heavy tool with solid jaws, very sharp.

It f+cking sucks. I could cut brake housing cleaner with a hammer and chisel. I nearly threw it out the window.

I should have just gotten another Shimano cutter with its crappy handles and clean housing cuts.

I've been using Jason's (Abbey) Crombie tool. This is really nicely made and polished tool. Feels very good in the hand. And if you are a Campy ST user, it makes BB work almost a pleasure. Jason, have you thought about making a version with a longer handle just for BB work? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

They do work awesome for square taper campy BB's because of the taper the spline has, they get a bit more purchases than the other offerings (including the Campagnolo version). If you want a longer handled one, it's not a big deal for me to make one. I will say that they were designed as lock ring tools, and a seized BB will push the envelope of what the tools was designed for. I broke one on purpose as a bit of destructive testing at the beginning, it took a 3 foot cheater bar to give you an idea of how much force they'll take. If that works for you, let me know. No problem making semi custom stuff.

Knipex doesn't make good stuff, they make awesome stuff.

I have the same tool. Joe actually cuts down the length of the threaded rod for this tool. I build a lot of bikes for big guys and I always build with tall head tubes. Joe didn't cut mine down & it gained about 5" in length. I can do any head tube I've ever seen. I like the feel of the tool and prefer using it over the standard Park tool.

BONUS: I pressed a big eye-bolt over the big nut at the bottom for use as a handle. I dipped the end in that liquid rubber grip stuff. I like using it better with the handle.

I have a pair of Knipex cutter to trim the mudguard stays, the SKS are on the hard side and those one-hand operated ones can do the job.
I've always liked their stuff.

I used Felco for the pruning scissors, oh those days in the vineyards in south Italy!

My sockets. From front to back are a set of Gedore 10mm drive sockets, then 10mm drive handles (Gedore and Stahlwille), then cheap Kinchrome 13mm drive sockets, then 13mm drive handles (Sidchrome and Stahlwille), and finally my Gedore torque wrench right at the back:

The Stahlwille ratchets are really, really nice. Beautifully made.

For a bonus, I'll also chuck in a photo of my bike tools drawer. in here are my Cobra head tube reamer/facer and cup press, plus my Cobra BB taps:
