My image is being uncooperative but I just picked up some Knipex high-leverage side cutters and a few other pliers and cutters from KC Tool. Nice guys over there.

Wow. Luc Albert. I haven't seen that name in forever.

    Love Craig's logo.

Why do some appear to have a textured finish? Just lighting?

Some of them have a different texture of black on them. The powder coater wanted me to make a fixture so they wouldn't have to hand mask every tool. It was going to save me money in the long run so I obliged. But then they ran into problems getting a clean line with the fixture. So we switched powders from one with a heavy wrinkle to one with a mild wrinkle. They are the same color though.

Gonna be a good tool month for me.

This showed up today. I've always wanted one and found a good deal. Going to tear it down and clean it and replace the gauges. Lifetime tool for sure.

    ....
It just happens that I have to replace the TS2.0 here, after several thousands of wheels (+10yrs of everyday use) is time for retirement and keep as backup (?). I'm pretty sure I'll get rid of the gauges right away

Curious to hear what you're going to replace the 2.0 with. Seems the 1.X is a pretty solid stand and after that the upgrades are minimal while the price grows quickly.

I'm making spoke wrenches tomorrow :)

These guys still need a few more hours in the tumbler to polish up a bit, but they're close enough. They'll be done in time to leave with me to NAHBS in the morning though. Starting off with the 6mm hex for Campagnolo system wheels. Feedback is welcome. If people dig this shape and style I'll do them in the other common sizes for square drive and Mavic.

I assume you've done your maths well, and would fit in between G3 spoke triplets. Looks just big enough...

Not really a new tool, but a modification to an existing one. At the shop I use a Park PRS2-OS2 work stand. I've always like the stand to be able to rotate freely unless I occasionally need to need to lock it down to really reef on something. That's pretty rare though, so usually the stand is free to rotate. The problem is the peg would always wear out and I would worry about it breaking and have the stand lose it's height adjustment. I also always wanted the stand between the holes drilled in the upper tube for height adjustment and the only way to get it at that height was to lock down the rotation between the upper and lower legs. So every year or so I would replace the pin and stew about how to find a fix for it. McMaster-Carr to the rescue! I ordered up some set-screw shaft collars with the inner diameter the same as the outer diameter of the Park stand, a thrust bearing, and some washers and voila, fixed! I had to hit the inside of the collars a bit with a small flap wheel because the Park tubes aren't exactly round and completely uniform in diameter, but it works great. I can still lock down the rotation if I want, it's now at the right height, and if I want to adjust the height, all I do is loosen the top set screw and put the stand where I want it.

Here's the pin. It's only three months old.

Here's the collars with the thrust bearings between them.

Yeah, I know it's Friday, but I was too psyched for this. Finally got the complete set for my own shop. Been looking for a decent, little used set for a looooong time. Missing a couple small parts but they've already been tracked down. I can't really say anything else about it that hasn't been said before.....
