    This box arrived today:

Sorry about the rotten pictures. I believe my fourteenth-month-old has left snail trails all over my iPhone, which shoots pretty shitty pictures to begin with!

I could get my old BB facer to work just fine if I shimmed it with a little piece of paper. Eventually I got tired of this and decided it was time to upgrade. About the time I really started shopping around Andy put some of his tools on sale so I decided to go for it. Plus, he is local for me so I really got to take a good look at the tools. They really have been a pleasure to use.

Make it happen "should we start a tools source ( where to buy) sticky ?" Good idea.

I do not see the SO ratchets today as being a good choice due to their inflated cost you can buy similar ratchets from Armstrong, Proto, Gearwrench for half to less than a half of the cost and still have the same performance and longevity. I carry a 1/4 drive Proto, with an adapter to 3/8 and a 3/8 breaker

Beta T's are on my short list my old OG Pedro's T's ( PB Swiss made) have had it , I view hexs and screwdrivers as wear items that need replacing from time to time. Just got a set of Wera bits in TX and hex plus for my Picquic Tools DASH 7 if you have not got one of these yet get one for $8 it kicks butt for a compact easy to use carry

should we start a tools source ( where to buy) sticky ?

Torque wrench recommendations Kanon Newton Meter (cN.m, N.m) these bad boys are industrial they are able to be set and forget and 100% of scale this is a key, 3 % accuracy, economical, and the other key is these are so small in comparison to other brands it is not even funny. Another brand is Sturtevant Richmont Torque Tools & Systems expensive and industrial too albeit not nearly as good as the previous one in accuracy ( 4% & 20% of scale) or pricing. Norbar is good too not much experience with them. Either of the great German tool brands TQ wrenches are also superbe (LOL)

Yearly service can be had a Torque Tool Service, Repair and Calibration Lab - Team Torque Inc. be sure to check out the used section for some cool deals

I can say with confidence that some of the tool truck brands just do not hold up to how much we use the wrenches now. I have seen several fall to pieces from over use, remember these tool truck wrenches are made for more occasional pro use not the 100+ times a day we can be using the tools. Remember no one tool company can do every tool great you need t o pick and choose what is right for you and what you do.

It's Tuesday, right? I picked these up on Black Friday. It was like Black Friday at Walmart without being anything like Walmart except a good deal and speedy shipping. I've been a tool whore since my tools were plastic and wood so I know a fine tool and these are fine.

Glad you like them. Wish I could have shipped everybody's order in a timely manor. My inbox felt like the front door at walmart after that sale.

I ordered a pair of these tonight, can't wait to get them into service. My travel case needs some Italian love.

Trying some out here. Not impressed. The sliding feature is not a benefit for working on bikes. It doesn't allow me to put the kind of pressure I'm accustomed to applying on a bolt when turning. In turn the sliding bit hinders the tool's function as a t-wrench. I would grab a t-wrench or standard L before I ever pick up one of these.

One of my assistants had them, and I didn't like them either.
There's no "meat" to grab when using the long side (say, tightening a shifter on the bars), so they become unpleasant to use.

I had the "pistol grip" ones, nice and tight in the beginning, but lasted less than one year. Very disappointed.
    Went back to Facom!

Well now you guys have me second guessing my purchase. Since it hasn't shown up yet I'm half tempted to cancel the order. I really like the set of Mac P handle allens I've got but I was looking for something as functional but more compact.

I was bummed out by the quality of the plating. The 5mm has a chipped portion on the top of the tool right out of the bag. Doesn't affect the tool-- but not a good introduction to an expensive tool company on first purchase.

Gattonero-- show us the Facom hex tools you are satisfied with pleeeease.

I'm not sure how I let Tuesday come and go without a picture. I got this Lezyne as a gift. I may just keep it as a bottle opener.

    Facom 84TZ T Handle Hexagon Allen Key 5mm : Tooled-Up.com

They are not expensive and work well, they lasted me longer than the Beta ones!

In preparation of welding Ti frames it was time to add another set of taps. I found this second hand var set with new and used English taps, new Italian and new French taps. I suspect I'll have a tough time keeping the french ones sharp. Anyone get anything new this week?

    Just an home-made nipple driver.
For me, is a lot quicker than anything else, as I can thread the nipple in the spoke, then release it holding the nipple from outside the rim

I bought a lathe yesterday. It's still in the back of the truck as I'm not sure where I'm going to put it just yet. It's a 1950's Logan, 11" swing. Pretty ideal size for me.

This week's contribution: wood-handled Felos and some Wiha torx wrenches that I plan (tentatively) to cut up and glue into sockets. I like the Felos so much I turned one into a wheelbuilding-only screwdriver.

I work in a shared shop environment...and therefore can't have nice things. Thanks for the reminder that I need to work out a security situation for my personal tools...so I can have nice things like those.
