This black version looks and feels almost exactly the same as the black Caleido ribbon I used last time round.
The grey version of Rapha's tape feels gummier/grippier though.

I'm with you on that one.

I been running the Arudnel furry tape and its my favorite of the stuff I've tried in recent years. I'm interested to try the NFS stuff though, especially since there are bare handed approvals.

It's not my favourite task, but I'm a little too detail oriented to leave it to a stranger and risk having to do it again to get equal-numbered and symmetrical wrap on each side.

That thought has never crossed my mind.

It's pretty easy to do using perforated tape or anything with a logo because it makes spacing out the wraps easy.

It's not so pleasant with plain tape like generic cork or the PRO stuff I used. If it makes you feel any better, the amount of time I spend taping my bars is measured in hours, not minutes.

Road handlebars have bends, so you cannot have the same spacing all around. In some points, the spacing has to decrease, and there comes the nice touch of making those transitions evenly distributed.
It takes 1 minute per side, or half of it, depending on how soft and stretchy is the tape, and its backing glue

I need much more soothing music than that, a good Pinot Noir and at least five more minutes per side.

That happened to be on the player on that given moment, in reality I prefer Brian Setzer or Brendan Perry. And no, I can't afford 10 minutes to wrap handlebar tape, aside from being a simple operation, allocating more time doesn't mean the job is done better

For the benefit of the customer I would refuse to wrap such an horrible handlebar.

If the customer comes in wearing a Mapei jersey and has those bars
you are required to wrap said bars in Cinelli splash tape.

I'm paid to do my job, not to choose their bars. Not everyone needs/wants to have a chat with our bike-fitter (who's actually a good chap). I agree that the colour is quite wrong, I chose to film that particular one as imperfections would stand up.

Not gonna lie I thought you guys were full of shit with the Cinelli Vollee recommendation. Switched all my bikes over this week that stuff's fantastic. Now I just need it in red or pink.

You cats need to hit NixFrixShun Bicycle Speed Shop and scoop up the new Black on Black NixFrixShun bartape. Steve H. recommended the mfg. and he's never wrong...about anything involving bikes, booze and (family friendly redacted).

I've got the original white on black, and it's the best stuff. I have been a die-hard Benotto Bike Ribbon user since the 80's, and was wary of using any padded tape on my ride, but once installed and ridden, I'm a convert for the NFS tape.

I have the white on black as well. It's on the Spooky, which has seen the vast majority of my miles for the last few weeks, most of that in rain or lingering summer humidity. That means wet hands and wet bars all the time. The tape remains grippy and comfortable when wet and is showing no signs of wear just yet.

Good timing.. i would need a couple more minutes and would skip the electrical tape using only what comes in tape box.
Love wrapping new tape on hbars. Even rewrapping feels good.

I realize this will be déclassé with this crowd, but after trying many others, I keep returning to Nashbar Deluxe Cork tape. Cheap, somewhat squishy, not slippery, stretches a bit without breaking, durable and no stupid logos. What's not to like? Plus the blue color almost exactly matches the accents on one of my frames.
