I REALLY liked how connected my hands felt to the bars however it is an absolute nightmare to remove from the bars. Seriously. I'd wrap it again if they have it in straight black because that's the only color bar tape should be and I like the feel but man it's a wasted 1/2 hr. removing it.

Currently still loving the old school Fizik wrapped very tight. Nice stuff.

I have some Prologo on the all conditions bike and it is holding up nicely. I have white Lizard Skin tape on the nice weather bike. I like the feel, but I have not found a method for cleaning it yet.
No sir, that is my Big Red Vanilla fender bike. I rode it in the rain yesterday for a couple hrs. and did not seem slippery. It is not tacky enough for CX but feels d@mn good.

Darren turned me on to the Cinelli Volee, and with a 1,000 miles or so on it, I'm very pleased. A others have noted, it feels a bit like tennis wrap...not surprised coming from Darren.

It doesn't stretch much, so if you eant to do it with "figure 8" style, have to pull HARD!

The Volee tape is really soft, make sure you wrap it a bit close (overlap 1/3); the Mike giant is different type, more similar to Fizik Microtex. Have it on my HotRats and still ooks good after 3-4 months of daily use :)

Just like with any tape if you stretch it too much it wil wear fast, but it needs to be tight enough to stay in place.

    Bar wrapping is very individual.

The Gecko is pretty tough, doesn't wear fast nor you can stretch it a lot.
Think it more like a Brooks tape or Fizik Eleganza/Performance 3mm tape: just the opposite of supersoft and stretchy Specialized cork

Just wanted to Chime in here since I've just rewrapped with the Gecko Fur.

I've been searching forums recently for reccommendations for those of us who ride bare handed and for the most part, I've come up short. My last wrap was SWorks roubaix tape (or something like that). The big S felt nice when it was dry but got slimy and sketchy when sweaty. The Gecko wrap is on the firm side, which I'm not used to yet as the Roubaix stuff was rather plush. Even after reading about how stiff the Arundel stuff is, I was still surprised at how little it stretches while wrapping. Despite the non stretchiness, I didn't think it was that hard to wrap. That said, I'm as anal about wrapping my bars as some of you guys - hey, I'm a MTB guy, so shoot me.

I ride sans gloves, and it's pretty grippy compared to what I peeled off. I've only got a couple short, harder efforts with the Gecko Fur so time will tell. It's been cool the last few days, so I'm anxious to see how it is when I'm really sweaty. So far so good though.

    Stitched leather... mmmmmm :)

Was just thinking about this post. Have three rides in on my Fizik performance tape in tacky white (their name). I really like the microtex I had -- white with logos -- had a good feel and was very easy to keep clean, but I'm growing to like riding without gloves and it got a bit slippery when sweaty. So when I read about their new more cushy tape with better grip I thought I'd try a roll.

The tacky Fizik is a much nicer grip, but that grip comes at a big price in keeping it clean. After the first ride bare handed, even with what I considered clean hands (no chain grease etc) it was very obvious where I held the tape. After three rides it looks pretty darn grungy. Tried to clean it with some formula 409, and while it helped some they are some sections that are still a bit grey. I'll try another cleaner or two, but I think I'm still on the hunt for a white tape that has decent cushion and grip, and stays clean for a while and is easy to clean up when needed. Maybe I need to go the Handlebra route and be done with it! Open to other recommendations as well!

If you ride black tape and want a) cushion and b) grip this could be the ticket for you.

Stitched leather looks lovely; but doesn't go well if you're Veggie, and a pain when a cable or -worse- casing has to be replaced....

November release? I guess I can wear out some bartape between now and then.

Thanks Brandon. This stuff is going to be long wearing. I am finding that it washes well with a sponge and hot water.

I just wrapped my CX bike with the PRO digital smart silicone stuff and I'm impressed so far; it uses a silicone strip on the back instead of the usual adhesive, which made the few instances where I had to back off the wrap and try again mess-free. Seems to be the right amount of cush without being overly bulky.

2.5 mm thick. Don't judge it by thickness alone. The stuff is crazy strong and avle to stretch. Thus you can wrap to your liking.
