Is the Supacaz stuff no good? I just wrapped my bars with it and had a first ride yesterday. It wrapped well and doesn’t feel bad.

Depends which one, in my recent experience.

I had a ‘bling blue’ (or similar such nomenclature) version that felt a bit weird but acceptable if dry (I plan to use this again), and I’ve had the gold tape which was actually ok, if expensive. The purple tape I had from them was *awful*, though. Sticky in the dry and deathly slippy when wet or sweaty.

Mmmkay. I’ll proceed with caution - thanks for the warning!

My comparison of Supacaz is the price/feel to my favourites being Cinelli cork, Deda and now Pro (Shimano). I personally change bar tape like underwear, it’s a disposable product that I feel shouldn’t be stupidly expensive. IMO it’s just bar tape, the Silca’s and Supacaz etc are just ripping us off. Leather bar tape is a different story though.

thats fair enough - North of $35, the Supacaz stuff isn't cheap. I tried the Fabric Knurl tape recently, at around $30 but the knurl was too textured for my liking. Conversely, when its wet I felt it was pretty slick so that was a lose / lose / lose for me. I did like the feel of Arundel Gecko fur, which was the right price around $20 but it seemed to break down more quickly than i would have liked.

Kids bikes NEED new tape. Ordinarily they'd get Fabric's Knurl, but it seems to be out of stock every where except in white, and I'm not going there. Any in stock budget staple recommendations?
