Default ENE Wingshifter - Suntour Command Redux

Looks like the Suntour Command shifters have returned ...although this time, they look to be friction only, judging from the first video.
This appeals to the un-racer in me.

Although, you could argue that dia-compe/Suntour have had a long association. Anyway I'm pleased, as I'm down to my last set of 7sp commands....

Ran em, loved em back in the days of creative mixing across manufacturers to get the lightest, trickest etc bike. Still never made me faster.....

Oh yeah, I know that. I had an original pair of retrofriction Suntours that I loved, and then later I had some Accushift models that I did not like as much but worked on a tandem I had. But Diacompe wouldn't be re-issuing them if they didn't think they could sell the stuff all over again to those randonneurs and bikepackers. The half-life of old products. Better than coming up with new designs!

Simplex had the Retrofriction. Those are hard to come buy$. The Suntour/diacompe PowerRatchet are pretty neat. I've got some as part of my Sprint Groupo on my 87 Circuit and I recently got some new improved washers from Rivindell. It's handy to be able to go back and forth between 5,6, and 7 speed cog sets. Those winged units would look cool on a MTB. (Looking cool IS significant.)

Here's another cool approach - from Matt Budd @ Buddsbikes (Budd Bike Works - Local Business - Seattle, Washington | Facebook - 2 Reviews - 197 Photos)

In committing to my inner unracer, I've ordered a couple of sets from Matt. Will post a review with pics once they arrive:

I like that you can use them with 11sp also, but can't see where to download the firmware

Damn, there seem to be a broken connection there
