    Default Convert factory front wheel (DT Swiss Oxic) to Son Sl front hub

    Are there any major cons to replacing front hub of a DT Swiss Oxic ( DT Swiss - PR 14 DICUT(R) 21 OXiC ) front wheel with a SonDeluxe SL hub (20h version) for use with a LED front light.

    The pros for me are primarily aesthetics (keep same all-black rims front and rear); simplicity (no wheel change needed for SL dynamo thus avoiding need for minor changes to pad position etc with different wheel) and reduced redundant wheel count.

    My focus is not based on experience/practicality of using dynamo hub, especially SL type. One drawback I can think of is that the system would always be on if the SL hub wheel is in SL fork dropouts so open to feedback that this is a bad idea and a dedicated wheel makes more sense (Altamount lite ceramic rim is close in look and dimensions so could go that way with more spokes in a dedicated wheel)

    I used to have a switch to turn my light on and off. Theoretically, there is a difference in drag. Never noticed it. When i had to replace the light i got rid of the switch. Light is always on now. That’s commuting. Also done group rides with a dynamo hub and for me it’s a non issue

    DT Swiss rims are not known to have the best spoke/nipple angle, so when you're replacing the hub with a larger flange one you're slightly altering the bracing angle. I'm not sure if Schmidt allows radial lacing on their 20h hubs, if so you could try and having it laced with the spokes inbound only.

    As far as the hub, they're the best ones money can get. Really a "fit&forget" thing, pair it with quality lights and a properly done wiring and you're ready for riding in any conditions.

    Rim is 20 hole and Son Delux SL 20 h hub can be laced radially (flange spacing is narrow at 50 mm so high flanges may offset this a bit).

    I am thinking of 2 cross front wheel, but due to narrow flange spacing on Son Delux may go radial or 1 cross to allow heads in lacing to offset the narrow flange - anyone have good or less good experience with this?

    I am in no rush to build up so have time to measure/tinker etc.

    Both my SP dynamo hubs have comically narrow flange spacing. Doesn’t seem to matter.

    They are both 32h hubs though, laced 2 cross.

    One of them is on a commuter and copes flawlessly with the sort of relentless abuse you might expect a commuter to get.
