Hi everyone! I actually don't have anything right now that takes bigger than a 28, but I'd love to grab some ice cold adult beverages after the Epic with anyone interested . . . in Macon, where there's some civilization and brew pubs. Anyone game?

You should just come to the Goose Keith, that's where all the action will be!

What D.G. said Keith. Look for me or my Airstream where I'll be roasting a pair of tired legs of a small brush fire.

My steel Zank naturally. I've been riding FL roads for the past week so all I have to do is swap wheels for BonJons setup tubeless. I'm on target for this D.G. and I really will cherish finally making the event. The B.G. inn was really nice to me, apparently i have a spot waiting for me at the tennis courts that includes 120V hookup. SWEET. I'll bring some beers.

Oh, one more thing :: if you're coming to the area on Friday, I'd eat before you go to Irwinton, there's nothing there. Well, there is one diner, but I think they close at like 6 or something. There's great grub in Macon and Milledgeville, depending on which direction you're coming from.

Donna and her husband are both saints. Thanks for a great and flawless event D.G. You do it right. I totally dig the fact there is no signage on the route. The route you ask? It is no cakewalk. Lots of sand or red mud ruts and really fun hardpack with enough road to allow folks who are ambitious to bridge to faster groups. I rode with some first class folks and finished with a woman who had never race on or off road and a 26 year old gent who had never ridden more than 40 miles EVER!!! You'd think that ment I slogged it eh? Finished in 9th place in the 40+ group since there is no other group and I felt it was unfair to race clydesdale...cause I'm basically a skinny over grown bean pole and that's not Clydesdale ok?

    Neat place, I'll be back.

Thanks for coming out TT, and it was nice to meet you in person!

Results are up on the site, pics tonight hopefully.

218 Results – Middle Georgia Epic

    Some interesting info:

-The 100k was won by a guy on a single speed.
-We had 8 DNFs this year, only 2 last year, and we had much better conditions and weather this year
-At least three guys brought road bikes out for the 200k:
--One of them flatted out early in the day (on the only roads with gravel on them)
--One of them (young STRONG guy on 25s) solo'd out ahead early and the group let him dangle out there by himself. I think he rode on his own for ~60 miles or so. Ultimately he finished in 2nd
--One of them was able to fit 32's on his road bike. He won. Averaged about 19.6mph for 124 miles.
-6th place in the 200k is a local hammerhead who was on a MTB
-A group of 7 finished together after dark - we had to go find them and gave them an escort back in. Took them just under 12hrs, but they finished! One of the guys had never ridden further than 65 miles before that day.

That 6th place was I believe a 20'ish yr. old woman who was donkey kong strong, finished just ahead of me. On the road sections we did a two man rotation....nobody else pulled thru...I think they did know how that works ;) Anyway she is awesome and, get this, sitting bolt upright like a parachute riding flat bars. Dang.

Good stuff D.G. Glad the bears didn't eat anyone.

Angie? White kit? She's a local. Her and her husband are both strong riders and nice folks too. They were originally planning on doing a MTB race in N. GA that day but it got canceled so they made a last minute decision to race 100k of gravel instead.

    TooTall!

    100k winner - on a SS!

    100k first female

    Someone fell over

200k top three. The kid in red - he broke away early, solo'd for about 60 miles or so, got caught when his RD cable broke. He rode the last half-ish stuck in the 11T cog, had to run some of the climbs. Finished 2nd overall.
