Awesome Lou. Sunday is not likely for me but maybe a coffee.

Everyone is sent off in waves of 75 or so for safety and many unofficially self-seed kind of like marathon corrals. Everyone winds up riding in a comfortable group. This one is simpatico, a gathering of the faithful. Good time guaranteed.

I'm in for a Sunday coffee ride if it works out for early (like an 8-10 thing).

All cleaned up (including fresh NFS) after a long cross season and ready to go:

(Photo on delivery day swiped from Tom's Flickr with apologies). Perfect HoH bike on a pair of Corsa 28s.

I will be up there. I have to prepare the bike tomorrow. I am going to 1x10 it with an X9 type 2 rear mech.

What tires should I run, rather, what would you run of these 2 options?

    Vittoria XG 32mm CX tires
    Maxxis refuse 40mm file treads

The Maxxis I can set up tubeless, so despite the excess volume I am leaning that way.

Either OK, but only one section about 0.5 km long can really be described as gravel. The rest of the 82 miles are clean roads and benign dirt roads that will be packed down given recent weather. I must confess that I've done it some years on a road bike on 23 mm butyl clinchers on narrow rims, one year on 23 tubulars on modern carbon aero wheels (404), and the last couple of years on 25-28 clinchers with latex tubes without problems. Almost anything works, but IMO anything >30 mm or knobby is overkill. The sweet spot is 27 -28, again IMO.

TT, I've descended with Lou, he doesn't need those beefy tires (Sorry Lou). You may appreciate them. I run 32-35mm tires most often, though as Lou says 28 is certainly enough.

In the immortal words of Root Boy Slim, feel free to fact check, Fat is where it's at Dare to be fat.

The NFS recovery tent will be at start/finish. Logistics-wise, I'm aware that parking is away from there. If any stalwarts wish to drop a bag with clothing etc. in my pickup truck just go for it.

Two different size cue sheets scaled to fit one page. I will have a dozen extra with me that are better printed quality than the office scanner PDF's for anyone who wants one.

Also, looks like I am running the Vittoria cross tires. In setting up (attempting) the Maxxis Refuse I took the risk of over inflating to get the last bit of bead to seat, the tire now looks like a snake and the gunshot bang headache is still lingering from last night.
