Very nice! I feel like the pilot's watch is having a resurgence and that's a great example.

    Here's another...

Not surprisingly, you chose a Patek.

In the more affordable (and made of titanium) option, I'd probably go for:
IWC PILOT’S WATCH MARK XVIII HERITAGE 40mm

    Or something totally different:
IWC PILOT’S WATCH CHRONOGRAPH TOP GUN EDITION “MOJAVE DESERT”

So what's the difference between a pilot's watch and a field watch?

Magnetism and atmospheres...but what do I know??? I just dig there are specialty watches.

The Sinn Pilots watch is the one that got my interest some years ago.

A pilot watch would normally have a similar style but with a chronograph, a second time zone, or both. A field watch wouldn’t likely have those complications.

They are quite similar but there are subtle differences. A pilot watch is made to be read quickly, so the hands and numbers are usually bigger and more bold than on a field watch. They may have an oversize crown, which is a nod to the times of open cockpits and wearing gloves.

The very first pilot watch looks nothing like what we think of today. It's still produced and is very similar to the first model.....it's the Cartier Santos. Louis Cartier was friends with Alberto Santos-Dumont and developed a watch for him to use while flying.

Not sure which color combo I like best as they both look good.

Also love the name "Fifty-Five Fathoms" as opposed to "Fifty Fathoms" which is the original from Blancpain.
The extra "Five" is because it is a Seiko 5 series watch and...
    - 55 Fathoms = 330 feet
    - 330ft = 100m
The base Seiko watch has 100m water resistance.

There's no telling what one will find when digging around the internet but bad writing seems easy to find. And ugly watches. Combining these two elements into one blog: "BY THE LOVE OF TIME"

Bausele calls this a Pilot Watch.

    I call it hideous.
