I am waiting for the Red Bull version: mass start, full contact, no ropes etc.
Kind of like the Derby.
That is a rad video. Thanks for sharing!

I know next to nothing about climbing, but the exact same route over and over again on speed climbing seems kind of blah to me.
I think it would be more interesting if the layout was revealed an hour or so before the start, and each competitor was given five (or whatever) practice runs, then the actual head-head runs were done on the clock. But what do I know about this stuff...
Maybe bring in a fire hose....
Boiling oil. In the spirit of the original Olympics being the War Sports (how far can you throw a spear, a disc, a rock, can you jump over their moat, can you punch them harder, how fast can you catch that guy punch him and then throw a spear at him, that kind of thing) this sport would be like how fast can you climb over their wall but also represent the city dwellers dropping rocks on you or pouring boiling oil.
Anyone remember Dan Osman ?

I did use the past tense as Dan left us. He was around pre-youtube so I only knew of him through articles in Rock and Ice and VHS tapes shared in the outdoor center where I guided. But he was a legend!
Pretty interesting article about him: Terminal Velocity | Outside Online

Dan did a ‘slide show’ at the outfitter I worked at in college. He had to die doing that, I don’t think he would have quit until it happened.. some people just have that thing.. Dan did.
I met him 1 time for a couple of hours-he had that thing
