Oh my Steevo, that knife is just flat sick. I like borrow. You must have built one hell of a bike to get something that schweet for a tip my friend. Very nice. Being an old Montana kid I have carried a knife of some sort since I was in short pants. Oh wait, I still am in short pants. There is always something I can use a knife for every single day. The only time I don't have a knife of some sort is for rides on airplanes. Lost a few to TSA and learned a lesson.

Geeze Stevie and Str with the fancy knives. Envy. Those C.R. knives are amazing.

Steve, after you have some miles on the Damascus steel I want to know how well it sharpens? Personally, I rather have knives that are easiest to sharpen and less concerned about edge holding.

Spyderco damascus is VG-10 layered between cosmetic pattern welded pieces. VG-10 is nice stuff, and I'd put it as "medium" as far as sharpening with regard to modern stainless blade steels.

That Slyz was on the shortlist, but I ended up going in a different direction.

Way better then my stainless Spydercos - a softer feel o the stone, and it takes a SHARP finish, whereas my stainless SC's and my Creightons take some muscle and some material removal to get the same feel.

I have to buy a 14" blade fillet knife again as I gave mine away in Mexico..........

I bought that Slysz as a birthday present to myself last year, but I want to know more about the "Firefly edition" - spill the beans!

Steve, Tyler did me the great favour to polish the FF badge into the knife body.

All this talk of gentlemen's knives and Chris Reeve made me pull the trigger on a Mnandi. vsalon is bad for my wallet, which should come as news to no one.

I got a new Benchmade mini-grip as a gift. 20CV steel and G10 scales. I'm in love with it.

Just got this in the mail. 100% satisfied. I thought the opener end of the knife when folded might get in the way, but it actually makes it easier to grab out of a pocket.

Jorn, let me know about how well this stays folded in the pocket or are you carrying in a sheath? I stopped carrying my automatic loose in my pocket after it tried to murder me.

As I'm not really a gentleman, I haven't looked at this thread much.

These are the two utility knives/tools I own. They get used all the time, most recently opening the box with Boyd wheels. The red one is over 20 years old and the Swiss Tool is nearly 20. I've played with a few Leatherman tools and the Swiss Tool makes it seem flimsy, at least to me. The Swiss Tool allows the blades to lock in place and it has a strong pliers. The case clips to a belt. I have used most of the attachments at one time or another, though I've never opened a tin of food... The bottle opener gets used more often than I care to admit. The extremely useful corkscrew is not on either device.

I'm no gentleman but I do love my Victorinox tools. They are a lifetime tool and I see others here like theirs as well. One of these sits in my toolbox and the other in the kitchen 'junk' drawer. I can't take either with me anywhere but they are useful as heck in ordinary life around home.

While not artisan knives per se, to me they epitomize quality and excellence.

    Dunno about gentlemanly knives.

    Here's my EDC.

    Boker Albatross.

Chunk of steel with a thick ti handle.

It's a tool with an odd shape, but it will outlast me and I like it a bunch.

Right now the action is very stiff. I cannot open it with one hand. Have to use two and watch the tip as it opens up. No way it is going to open accidentally as it is now.

I have two CRKTs, both excellent. One has a bone handle which looks the business, just need a matching revolver. But it's too 'gentlemanly' for regular use. The other is a little steel thing you can spread peanut butter with or get fish scales on and not care. Recommend.
