Most people wait for the muse to turn up. That's terribly unreliable. I have to sit down and pursue the muse by attempting to work.

So I do think its problematic when active judges engage in politics. I don't want to justify Trump's comments but there is an issue -Mike G

Did you read the piece? It is satire.

That aside, is your concern activist liberal judges? Trump and McConnell certainly don't seem to have issues with flooding the courts with activist conservative judges. Do you have similar concerns about those activist judges?

I know its satire. And its not about judicial activism vs conservatism its about the appearance of being unbiased and with the best judges we have no idea what they are thinking outside of the case they are on.

Then what about all of the republican judges speeches at the heritage society and the like? The trump appointees are quite active on the speaking circuit as are thomas and alito. If you expect it from one side, expect it from both. And complain about all sides if you don't get it...

It's all wrong. I think CPAC wants to promote judges being at their events. I could not disagree more.

    Thanks Guy, that was good.

If you have any interest in the mad mad genius world of high level chess, this is a must read because tournament chess as we know it has blown up.
Magnus Carlsen, world chess champion, plays online speed chess under pseudonyms and livestreams his matches.

I haven't played (or followed) regularly since my teens. But Carlsen sounds like he is taking it to new places...
